We had the good fortune of connecting with Lewis Beilharz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lewis, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Wearable Art and fashion are visual mediums, so they can be worn and experienced . My brand expresses a message of inclusiveness for those who feel like they’re underrepresented. As a gay man who’s also an immigrant to the USA- I’ve been welcomed, and my art has been celebrated in so many spaces that were not of my own culture or background; I’m truly blessed and humbled to have found space as a long-term guest . With my platform, I will always shout out to my friends and will be a big brother to represent and celebrate friends in the queer and gender non-confirming community. I’ve recently been shadowbanned for advocating for human rights of Palestine, and it made me realize I only want to align who I am and my art with a moral compass.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My background is in Painting and drawing and I studied fine arts in Melbourne, Australia. I moved to NYC having a complete nostalgic fascination to 60-80s NY art with wharhol and Basquait and the factory. I didn’t have the best luck until I started painting clothing, and this canvas took off for me, then I added a more skill and refinement which had taken me to where I am today . The journey was not easy , and I’ve faced so much rejection- but what kept me going was the love I have of art and creating and the lesson was to never quit of stop, and that seems to pay off .I want the world to know that I’m passionate and resilient and I love using my art to inspire and mentor.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I owe my a big shout out to the iconic Patricia Feild , as in 2019 she was the first showroom to ever give me a chance in NYC , and got my clothes into NYFw, art Basel and Italian Vogue . I don’t know where I would be without her and the team giving me a chance , and for that I’m forever greatful and humbled.
