Meet Lewis Carter | Entertainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lewis Carter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lewis, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from Los Angeles, California. I was raised in south central, but I went to school out in the Valley, and that balance shaped me a lot. Growing up in the hood taught me toughness, awareness, and how to move through life with resilience. At the same time, getting an education in the Valley opened my world to new perspectives, opportunities, and different kinds of people.
That mix of environments pushed me to adapt, to understand people from all walks of life, and to carry myself in a way that can fit in anywhere. It also gave me a drive to keep growing and creating,

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been acting, singing, and dancing since elementary school—it’s always been a part of who I am. My grandfather was a huge influence on me, and I also come from a family where the gift of singing runs deep, so it felt natural to follow that path. But it wasn’t always easy. Growing up as a young boy in the inner city who wanted to entertain while most of the boys around me were into sports meant I had to learn resilience early on. I stuck out, and sometimes that wasn’t comfortable, but it gave me tough skin and a stronger sense of purpose.
What sets me apart is the heart I put into my art. I don’t just perform—I live it. Every song, every role, every dance is a piece of my story and my way of connecting with people. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve kept going despite challenges, whether it was lack of support, financial struggles, or just the doubt that creeps in when the journey feels heavy.
The biggest lessons I’ve learned are to stay true to yourself, trust your gift, and not compare your path to anyone else’s. I want the world to know that my brand and my story are about resilience, authenticity, and using art to inspire. I didn’t have an easy road, but I wouldn’t trade it, because it made me the artist—and the person—I am today.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d want to give them the full L.A. experience, the way I see it. We’d definitely start by dining in Inglewood there’s nothing like the soul and flavor you get from the restaurants there. One morning, we’d hike the Culver City Steps it’s a workout, but the view at the top is worth every step.
At night, I’d take them to one of my favorite spots, Shoo Shoo Baby in Downtown L.A., for drinks. The vibe there is always fun, stylish, and a little unexpected. For live music, I’d make sure we hit the Blue Note Jazz Club in L.A. it’s an amazing place to catch great performances and just soak in the energy.
We’d also spend time in the West Adams district, where I’d take them to this Black-owned cookie shop that makes the most unforgettable cookies. Beyond that, we’d mix in some chill beach time, maybe Venice or Manhattan Beach, and let them feel the heartbeat of the city from the food and music to the culture and community.
For me, that’s the best of L.A. the hidden gems, the authentic flavors, and the spots that have personality and history.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to GOD!
my friend Jamie, my aunt Darlene, Ms. Pat, and my close friends and family who have always encouraged me to keep pushing forward in this business. Their support, love, and belief in me—especially during times when things weren’t easy—has kept me grounded and motivated. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their encouragement and the strength they’ve given me along the way.
