We had the good fortune of connecting with Liam Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Liam, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
For me, developing habits and routines are crucial for success, especially as a photographer represented by Agency Arts and Vice President at CARVINGBLOCK. Every morning, I begin with a mental check-in by jotting down my thoughts, a habit that helps me focus and clear my mind so I’m ready to take on the day. Secondly, staying organized. One of my former bosses handed me a copy of “Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity” by David Allen, and it totally changed the game for me. It helped me establish a personal system and structure both in my personal and work life. Organization is a must if you want to succeed as an artist in any form. It has helped me to free my mind and be open to creativity. The next habit is to keep learning. I dedicate time to expose myself to new information, whether its acquiring a new skill or reading every day. This habit fuels my personal and professional growth so I’m constantly evolving and expanding my knowledge and perspective. Lastly, the most important habit is finding balance between my personal and professional life. I find that these two facets often complement and inspire each other.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Like many others before me, I took the leap from my small hometown to pursue my dreams, and I have to say, it’s been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve always embraced life’s uncertainties with a mix of humility, excitement, and wonder, and that’s really fueled my creativity and prompted significant growth.

Every step of my journey has brought its own mix of challenges and opportunities. But what I’m most proud of is my work ethic—I’ve never been afraid to roll up my sleeves and put in the hard work to earn my success. Nothing was ever handed to me, so I have a big appreciation for what I have gained.

There’s an incredible sense of freedom and joy that comes with discovering your passion and turning it into a career. As a photographer, I’ve been lucky enough to immerse myself in the craft, collaborating with diverse clients and publications, and using my creativity to express myself through art. And that same creativity has led me to so many opportunities, including my current role as Vice President of CARVINGBLOCK, a creative agency dedicated to hospitality and all things epicurean.

I’m proud of the person I’ve become, and I’m excited to continue evolving and seeing where my creativity and career take me next.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

As we all know, we are very lucky to live in Los Angeles and have the opportunity to enjoy all that it has to offer. Here are some of my top picks…

If there’s a trip planned, you can bet it’ll revolve around amazing food and drinks. Once a friend arrives, it’s straight to Happy Hour at the upstairs bar at L&E Oyster Bar in Silver Lake for martinis, fries, and shrimp cocktails. Then, it’s off to El Condor for a round of margaritas and a chat with all the neighborhood friends.

For food, Los Angeles boasts a plethora of incredible restaurants, both new and established. There are so many good ones, with highlights like Dan Tana’s for classic Italian, Broad Street Oyster Company for their incredible lobster rolls, Yangban for their unique Jewish and Korean cuisine, Burritos Las Palmas for the birrra and bean and cheese burritos wrapped in those amazing tortillas, Homestate for breakfast tacos and the Spicy Paloma, and hangs at The Prince for food, drinks, and vibes. For a truly special experience, we’ll indulge in the tasting menus at Providence or Kato, two of my top picks for Michelin Star dining. I’m going to say that we will strive to hit them all!

During the week, we’ll likely embark on a hike up to one of my favorite landmarks in Los Angeles, The Observatory, via the trail next to Trails Cafe. It offers great views of the city and a chance to soak up some sun and get in some exercise after eating all that food!

I would want them to experience a good show at The Greek, as everyone should. Then definitely try to catch in another show at the Lodge Room in Highland Park, with pre-show bites and drinks at Checker Hall and a nightcap at Gold Line.

If time allows, I might even squeeze in a quick day trip up to Los Olivos for lunch at Bar Le Côte and some wine tastings at Stolpman Fresh and Dreamcôte. And, of course, dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, Bell’s, in Los Alamos
