We had the good fortune of connecting with Lily Chan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lily, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
As an entrepreneur and startup founder, decision-making is an integral part of our journey. It is not always easy to know when to pivot or persevere, and the decision-making process can bring about a range of emotions, including anxiety, shame, guilt, and even celebration. Ultimately, the decision we make is our own, and it is important to trust our instincts and feelings throughout the process.
When faced with this type of decision, it is crucial to take the time to reflect and gather all necessary information before making a final decision. We should ask ourselves questions such as, “What is my gut really telling me here?” and “What am I feeling?” It is also important to consider the potential benefits of both outcomes, whether it’s deciding to persevere or to give up.
Additionally, seeking the advice of a trusted sounding board can be incredibly helpful. Speaking with someone who understands the situation and has experience with similar decisions can provide valuable insight and support.
Recently, I was faced with a difficult decision to leave a company I helped create. It was a challenging process that required time to grieve and process, but ultimately, I knew it was the right decision for me. By taking the time to reflect and trust my instincts, I was able to make a decision that aligned with my values and goals.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oooo, what a fun question!
Starting your day with some movement is the best, I’d love to start with a nature walk at Wilacre Park in Studio City. If you’d like to try something that is a little more active, BoxUnion in Sherman Oaks gives you the energy of sweat and power.
From there, I would get invite one to get coffee at The Joint Seafood. Yes, this could be odd, why am I having coffee at a seafood spot? Yes, the coffee here is delicious and thoughtfully made by their baristas.
Shopping for a gift for someone or for yourself, Liberate has the cutest gifts for the soul. They also host workshops in dance, yoga and offer sauna treatments.
Then dinner at Niku Nashi, is vegan sushi that is located inside A Plant-Based Bar (APB), a new concept featuring only vegan-certified alcohol, craft cocktails, and a zero-proof happy hour. Sooo good! 🙂
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It is truly heartwarming to see individuals dedicate their posts to the communities and people who have been integral to their growth and success. In this instance, I would like to acknowledge and celebrate the Yellow Community, founded by Joanna Waterfall. This community provides a space for women to build meaningful work and has been a source of inspiration and empowerment for many.
Being part of a community that supports your vision and journey is invaluable, and it’s clear that the Yellow Community has done just that for you. Over the past five years, I’ve attended events and conferences and have had the opportunity to meet lifelong friends. The journey of running a business can be challenging and isolating, but having a community like Yellow by your side can make all the difference.
In addition, I would like to recognize BoxUnion LA for playing a crucial role in my journey of self-improvement. Taking care of ones physical and mental well-being is essential, and it’s inspiring to see how the BoxUnion team helped me build both internal and external strength. Despite initial doubts, I have been able to push past your limitations and grow in ways you never thought possible.
Thank you for sharing my story and acknowledging the people and communities who have been instrumental in my growth and success. It is a beautiful reminder of the power of community and the importance of lifting each other up.
