We had the good fortune of connecting with Lily Monge and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lily, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I always had the desire to start a business, but I had no idea what I wanted it to be. I worked all types of different jobs before starting my business, but nothing sparked a fire inside of me. I also felt very constrained in the types of jobs I worked because I had no room to be a creative person. I knew then I needed to find my passion and from that I would start my business. The desire for independence, creativity and knowing the sky was my limit were the key factors behind the thought process of starting my own business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My name is Lily and I am the owner of Monday Muse Studio in Woodland Hills. I am a licensed esthetician who specializes in eyebrows. The services that I offer are brow waxing, henna stain for brows, brow lamination, microblading and a few other services that you can check out on my booking website. I strive to give my clients the best that they deserve which means making them feel like they matter and are not just another person on the calendar. I love being able to connect with my clients and in order to get to that level I know I need to create a space for them where they feel welcomed, safe and in a trusting environment. It has not been easy starting a business and keeping it afloat. A lot goes into owning a business and I have quickly learned it is not for everyone. Even I have moments of doubts but what keeps me going is my passion for what I do and my support system who is cheering me on. My clients are also another reason why I keep going. I have a handful of clients who I trust and vent to and their encouraging words or business advice is a reminder to me that this is for me. I love that I have created this type of work environment for myself and it is what I am most proud of. I created the dream job for myself.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is such a hard question because Los Angeles is full of adventure! I was born and raised so I have visited, seen and done a lot that I have no idea how I would condensed all that hahah. I would definitely use the first 2-3 days to be touristy like take them to Disneyland, Universal Studios or Six Flags.
A comedy show is a must either at the Laugh factory or The Comedy Store. I would take them on a drive on PCH to get to Point Dume beach and if it was a perfect day we would spot some dolphins swimming by. There are so many great places to eat and drink either here in the Valley, West Hollywood, Hollywood, Santa Monica, Venice, I mean the list goes on but I would take them out to Santa Monica around 3rd street to do a rooftop sunset dinner and drinks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes out to my sister, Jennie. I know that without her I wouldn’t be where I am today. She has helped me so much with the business side of things and I honestly don’t make a descision without consulting with her first. Since I can remember my sister has always taken care of me and I am so thankful that that hasn’t changed. I would also like to shoutout my mom because without her cheerfulness attitude I don’t think I would be able to move past challenging times.
