Meet Lily Russell | Owner and operator of LilyVenture Films

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lily Russell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lily, what do you attribute your success to?
There are multiple factors that contributed to the success of my brand, one of the simplest things you can do is start. Stop planning and go out and do the thing. Making mistakes is the key to progress and you can’t make mistakes without starting. For me, taking online courses that were more tailored to my niche and what I wanted to achieve worked much better for me than when I went to university as well. Building a community and drawing on the experience of others is super helpful as well.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I was always drawn to photography and video from a young age. I love nostalgia and looking back on moments to relive how they felt, see people age and grow. Watch others leave your life entirely. It’s an absolute pleasure to capture people on one of the happiest days of their lives. I focus on the emotions of the day and add refined and vintage elements to evoke the same nostalgia I feel watching back home movies, but with an elevated and cinematic vibe.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
