Meet Lina Hagstrom | Filmmaker & Founder of Sunday Child Entertainment

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lina Hagstrom and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lina, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
1. That sometimes, done is better than perfect. Honing something until perfection usually starts to have a negative ROI. It’s easier said than done and as a filmmaker, I of course want to release films that are as good as they possibly could be. Sometimes I look back at my early productions and see all the things that I would do differently now, but I think it’s important to also allow your early work live and let people find those. It’s a cliché but true, those are the diamonds in the rough and it’s satisfying to see an artist’s early work and evolution.
2. You don’t need to pick a lane, you can pick many: People are usually multi-dimensional as we have several different interests, skills and passions. Instead of picking one lane for our entire professional life, it’s okay to test drive a couple of lanes or change lanes every now and then.
3. Create your own opportunities. Today’s technology allows us to create, publish and connect with almost anyone so instead of waiting for opportunities to come for you or for doors to open, create your own opportunities and you will find many new doors to open.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sunday Child Entertainment is a New York and Helsinki-based production house dedicated to developing and producing TV and film content for global audiences, as well as creating Personalized Biopics for private use.
Our mission is to bring Nordic stories that inspire, entertain and evoke emotions to international audiences. Each film and tv show invites the viewer on an emotional journey, leaving them with new perspectives on life.
With our Personalized Biopics, people can preserve their memories in moving images and leave a lasting legacy. They also have the chance to become the star of their own cinematic experience and see their life through their eyes, on film. These high-quality, cinema-style films are fully customizable, providing a unique and personal way to see your life story unfold on the big screen.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start with a morning walk along Venice Beach, have brunch at the Atla (the pork al pastor is divine) and then do some shopping in Farm Rio – you’ll find the most beautiful tropicool prints, perfect for the LA sun.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my family who instilled a healthy self confidence in me and who always encourage me, my friends who are the best sounding boards and supporters and my co-workers who have made me smarter and allowed me to grow as a professional.
I also want to mention my grandmother, who, like me, was born on a Sunday and was convinced that Sunday Children are blessed with an extra dose of luck in life. At 98, after living through two wars and the hardships that followed, when looking back at her life, she considered herself the luckiest person in the world. She taught me that luck doesn’t happen, it’s found and by looking around us, we can see it everywhere. At Sunday Child Entertainment, we aim to share that sense of luck and joy with the world.
