Meet Linda Weinrib | Actress, VO Actress, Stage and Screen

We had the good fortune of connecting with Linda Weinrib and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Linda, why did you pursue a creative career?
As a child I watched my Father’s career in acting and VO and knew that is what I wanted to do too. My Mom started me at the age of 3 take dance and piano classes, at the age of 5 I booked my first acting job on The Danny Kaye Show at the CBS Studios. I knew that was my destiny to continue pursing acting and I have for my entire life. It’s in my blood and as my Daddy used to say “ It’s in the genes kid and I ain’t talking blue jeans!”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Born and raised in Hollywood California I started acting at the age of 3. To me acting is an art you give of your whole self, your heart, and your mind. I was lucky to have had a Father who had a successful acting career, he devoted so much of his time to his career there wasn’t any time for me. True I did not see my Father till I was 15 and decided to see him and introduce myself. I wanted him to get to know me and that was a very challenging time because he was guarded and stubborn. It took several more visits and talks before he allowed me into his world. I was 19 when we finally had a relationship and I am proud of my persistence and bravery. I pursued my acting career taking a few breaks for my College years, during then getting married, and having two kids and raising them. There were many challenges of time, and life that were hard to juggle both. After my kids were school age I then continued to pursue my acting career. It was exciting to realize that both my kids wanted to do it also so we would audition together and juggle now three acting careers! That was short lived as they grew up and decided they had other interests. Which was disappointing but I understood and focused more on my career after that.
My VO career took off during covid because dubbing English over foreign language projects for NETFLIX, AMAZON, PARAMOUNT, HBO, and DISNEY PLUS, was socially safe. I recorded in a booth alone with the directors and engineers in my headphones from other locations and I was constantly busy. Now I am usually booked to work without an audition and that is very rewarding knowing I am at that professional level.
I have learned that if you want something bad enough you have to be persistent, smart, brave, and never give up. We all have faced adversity and challenges to give up but life is never easy no matter what you do. Never give up is my motto!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I have lived in LA all my life I know all the best places to see. I would take them to the Farmers Market/The Grove because that was my family’s favorite place to people watch, eat great food, fun stores, and lots of celebrity sightings being next door to CBS! The beaches here are a wonderful place to visit including the Santa Monica Pier with a delicious lunch at Bubba Gumps with a window seat and a view of the ocean. Venice Beach is awesome with muscle beach, the many colorful vendors and shops. The Marina Del Rey Fisherman’s village has harbor tours and boat rentals daily. The many restaurants offer fresh seafood choices and the always wonderful Cheesecake Factory overlooking Mother’s Beach which I frequented many summers as a child. I would also suggest Hollywood as a great way to spend quality time with sightseeing, souvenir shopping, and a refreshing lunch at Yamashiro overlooking the Magic Castle and Hollywood Blvd. Universal Studios, Knott’s Berry Farm, Disneyland, so much to see it would be a busy week for sure.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I knew at a young age I had been bitten by the acting bug so I must give credit to my Mom for encouraging me with her love and support. For my Dad Lennie Weinrib who gave me my acting genes, advice, wisdom, and his legacy. Thank you to my acting coach and best friend Frank Gerrish for all his assistance in my audition self tapes and VO recording, and acting advice. Thank you to my education at UCLA Theater Dept. and all the teachers I studied with all these years. I am grateful for having studied VO with Joanie Gerber, Michael Bell, Marc Cashman, Sue Blu, Andrea Romano, Melique Berger, and to my amazing VO agents Portia Scott and Sydel Lisi at CTC. Thank you to my commercial agents Michell Henderson and Lisa Reider at HRI Talent. Grateful for my Improv experience working in My Italian Comedy Wedding as the groom’s Mother, Celebrity Comedy Wedding as Brette Medler, and The Unsinkable Molly Brown in The Titanic the Artifact Exhibit.
