We had the good fortune of connecting with Linda Zepeda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Linda, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
To stay consistent and not get distracted by negative comments.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

As a hairstylist you can truly create art with hair. Wether it’s coloring the hair to bring out the color of the eyes or brighten someone’s complexion. Or a haircut to hide certain features the client doesn’t like. Or adding hair extensions to someone struggling with hair loss. It’s about listening to the client and providing them with the best hair experience they’ve ever had.

I pride myself in being able to provide such a transformative service. Seeing a clients beaming smile after a service is what I live for.

I am a daughter of a hairstylist and salon owner. So hairstyling has always been a part of my life. But I didn’t take hairstyling seriously until a few years ago after the birth of my daughters. My daughters brought out a certain drive and artistic fire I didn’t have before.

It wasn’t easy to quit a secure and well paying office job, but deep down inside of me, I knew life had something else in store for me.

So I enrolled in beauty school, graduated top of my class and ever since I’ve been following my passion. A passion I didn’t know I had. A passion that was dormant for so many years.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that if you follow your passion, the money will follow. And in the right moment you will meet people along your path that will open big doors and opportunities for you.

I would like to be known for a creative artist that supports other artist in their own artistic journey.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LACMA- to take cool photos of the lights Staples center (crypto arena)- for a concert/game
Griffith observatory- hike and check out inside
Malibu-Beach and shopping
San Antonio winery- wine tasting and food
Guelaguetza Restaurant- True Oaxaca food
Avenue 26 night market- support all food trucks
Coffee- lavender & honey (Pasadena)
Plant love food- El Monte vegan restaurant
Xecora- El Monte urban gastronomy

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother is my greatest inspiration she’s been a small business owner and entrepreneur for over 20 years and as a woman and minority she’s been through many struggles and always finds a way or solution and never gives up.

Sam Papas and Karyn Barrus-Papas are the best mentors an artist can have. They truly support my dream and they push me on every level to be the best.

My husband who always supports me on every decision and endeavor.
