We had the good fortune of connecting with LindaLu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LindaLu, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have a background in Teaching. it’s in my Soul. I also love Learning. Life is most Lived when you Experience or Learn something new Every day. Furthermore, I’m a Social-Butterfly: I Love Laughing, Loving, Libating (is that a word??), wink. So, I decided to put ALL these Joys together in an Aesthetic Theme and formed LindaLu BeautyBar.
LindaLuBeautyBar is an Experience (a client’s term!) where women Socialize, Laugh, Sip, Eat, Learn.

These productions don’t even “Feel” like a business as I also walk away Learning something new from THEM and they Joys of newly formed Friendships. And when I can help a woman feel Beautiful, Empowered, Uplifted, and Validated, my own sense of upliftment & empowerment ensues

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As my father used to tease: I’m a Professional Student. I’m always going to school to learn. giggle. I have many degrees: from English to Math ! and even in 3yrs of University as an honor’s Chemistry student !
I’ve been teaching for 29 yrs now (Public schools/Adjunct Professor) and ready to retire from the classroom but not the world of Education.
now, is it easy? well, you know what Public school teachers go through now! But how I balance is that I always look for Events I can attend or a plane ticket to fly away to.
I’ve visited most countries, eaten the most amazing (and scary) foods.

as stated earlier, one should always have the Desire to Grow & Go, even at 55yrs of age……….and the best part, is to Share & Experience it with Others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First, I’d say they should Fly into LONG BEACH Airport! why? it’s small and it’s soo Retro! where else can u feel “ole hollywood” and walk OUTSIDE from the airplane?! Then, stay in LBC near the Ocean. Experience the Beauty of the Pacific, u can bike ride along the “looong” beach (they even have a wheelchair access option! Long Beach Bluffs proffers FREE Yoga, toO! Hungry? SOO many cultural places to eat: from Little Cambodia to “fancy places” in Downtown LBC to an easy waterfront Bistro at the Pier, to the many retro cafes in the El Dorado area. Then, JUMP on the Blue Train and hit DOWNTOWNLA: the next “it” place for a Cocktail with a view! (my fav: 71Above) or get Tickets to a Kings Hockey game at the Crypto arena !
want a little “brr” or “ouch” ?? rent a car and hit the Snow & gorgeous lake of BigBear or the Scorching Heat of retro Palm Springs (do the funicular, too!)
GOSH, Southern Cali is the BEST place to Visit and Live ! it’s like all 50 states in 1 !

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
oh my, where to start ? well, I previously mentioned that my BeautyBars are reciprocal: I give to them and they give to me. I also LOVE being a part of a COMMUNITY, the proximity in which I live and within my Personal Connections. I LOVE Long Beach. It’s a city where a motley of Cultures reside and take Pride in. I learn from them and Share that knowledge at my Beauty Bars, Having a World History degree, I’ve been able to create a didactic experience where I can share others’ cultures: I’ve taught the background of the Geisha at a local LBC Tatami room to Armenian Goddesses in my own Yard.
I also am humbled by always hosting a Nonprofit at each event. I visit the nonprofit, listen to their stories & needs in order to reshape my events so that we (all participants) can Contribute to help in some form. We’ve fundraised raising cash with Silent Auctions to making Home-made sewn Toys to donate to our local Cat Rescues. Yes, we had a dozen ladies sewing the cutest toys! I invited a guest Veterinarian to speak about the difficulties of that career (I learned they have the highest suicide rate!) and then FixLongBeach came to talk about Trap&Fix options. As a treat and thanks, I taught all the ladies how to do the most difficult eyeliner: the Cat-Eye !
As you can see, it’s a whole Orchestration: we all contribute our “art” our “contribution” to make a Beautiful Day of Expressions.
