We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Anell Harvey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey Anell, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I grew up watching my mom & dad go to work. I would some days go to either work & school with my mom. Some weeks I wouldn’t see my dad for days at a time because he is a truck driver. As I got older I have always wanted my own family. Most of all, I would want to be able to be there for my children. Growing up I always knew I wouldn’t be able to take orders from very many people as I know that I am a strong minded person. So working for myself is one of the best decisions I could’ve ever made.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love the fact that I am very versatile. I was always told “You need a 9-5 for back up or Do you really think what you are doing right now is going to last a lifetime?” . I have taken NUMEROUS classes and have a plethora of certificates that can last me for a lifetime of work and I am only 23. The illusion of you working a 9-5 and having a business is not a bad thing. But think of it like this, how long are you gonna put forth all your effort into someone else’s dream and not your own. The time your building up someone else you can build up yourself. The thing I want people to take away from me is that there is many people out here that do what you do or do the same thing as you , but it’s not a brand name, color,or logo that makes you stand out. It’s what you can do and what you have to offer!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them on the outskirts of LA. Of course there is nothing like home. But sometimes you need to go out of your local area to grow and show others what you have to offer. My favorite areas outside of LA are Newport Beach, Irvine, Riverside & Corona. There are a lot of small restaurants with business minded people who want to have conversations. These are great areas to network.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First off, I would love to give all glory to God. Without him things would not be possible. Being the first generation esthetician and not your typical medical personnel or doctor which runs in my family there isn’t really anyone to look up to because no one is in my particular niche of this medical profession.

My mom is just now transitioning into the Medical Esthetics side of the medical field as we take care of post op patients of those whom need after care services for the very popular plastic surgery procedures that are being done within this day in age.
