We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Hartfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
When it comes to taking risks, I try to take time before making big decisions to pray on it and to weigh the outcomes of either way I choose. Also, my dad has always had two sayings 1. “anything worth having is worth fighting for” and 2. “You can’t fail if you don’t try.” So I feel like when I get nervous, anxious or start to self doubt, I really remember those sayings to keep me going.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are just a regular family working together to make something special in our community. My husband and I both have full time jobs on top of our business. I am a Radiologic Technologist at the hospital and he is a Maintenance Supervisor for luxury apartments. I am born and raised Nashvillian, I even bought my first car on the same lot that we have The Truck Stop at so it holds a special place to me. We know what it means to be from here and invest here. We do kids markets, turkey dinner giveaways, toy drives, and pet food drives. We don’t want to just live in our community but make it better.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had people visiting from out of state, I would definitely make a stop at The Truck Stop. We have so many different options with rotating food trucks that there is something for everyone. Most tourist hit up the Grand Ole Opry, which is a treasure and what we are known for but I would recommend the National Museum of African American Music. It is a great place that you can submerse yourself in for hours. Another place is Printers Alley. It’s has an old Nashville feel down there, unlike on Broadway. There is a karaoke bar, blues joint, restaurants and much more. If they’re into nature, I would go an hour away to Cummins Falls. It’s a great hike to a waterfall/swimming hole. And most importantly, I would take them to the get hot chicken at Prince’s on Nolensville road, the one in downtown is a little too touristy.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I need to shout out the Lord for continuing to help us keep our business going. They say the first few years of a small business are the hardest and we feel it. Next, I have to shout out my husband, John, for supporting this idea I had and helping me make it come together. He built the picnic tables, the stage, currently putting up a fence and many more things around our food truck park. He didn’t see the vision when I first told him about it but believed in me enough to go all in with The Truck Stop. Next, is some very supportive friends and family who showed up for us. They have liked and shared the posts, helped pass out flyers, and given their time to help us. They have showed up to pull weeds, water plants, paint, open/close when we needed to be at our kids school functions, DJ events for free, supported the trucks and donated to our community events. Next up is the small business owners who also see our vision and give us a chance to come out to our food truck park. We are a community of small businesses supporting small businesses. We are all trying to achieve greatness and I love all the support we give each other. There are some food trucks that have been been there from the beginning, some that have become friends and people that we can bounce ideas off of. And finally, the community we live in for showing up! They support multiple local business when they come out to our food truck park!
Without all of these people mentioned, we couldn’t have The Truck Stop.
