We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindye Galloway and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindye, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
“Always Say Yes” is a piece of advice I hear from so many entrepreneurs. It feels like the tempting answer when you’re starting from ground zero. But I decided to look at things differently and take an opposite approach with our business. I said no to more than I said yes to. If you say yes to everything, you won’t have time to focus on the things you deeply want to accomplish and could be defined by work you aren’t proud of because it didn’t fully align with you and your goals. So, by saying no, it allows you the space to become what you want to because you are focused on what you are chasing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a hustle, and sometimes finances in seasons don’t allow you the freedom to say no. However, you can slowly make your way to saying no to the opportunities that don’t fully speak to you and take the risk of only saying yes to the opportunities that will bring you more of the same opportunities.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Interior Design has become such an art and creative evolution for me. I’m always inspired by what could be and love designing out of the box. Innovation has always been a part of our identity as a studio and shop. We’ve become known for mixing design styles, dreaming up a variety of different and unexpected elements in home design, and creating a brand that tells a story through each home we design and product we develop and curate.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have so many favorite spots in our area! The dreamiest hotel to stay in is Pelican Hill with its beautiful views, the pool with a dramatic round shape, amazing service, and rooms that feel like a total getaway. My favorite restaurants and shopping are nestled alongside the harbor in Newport Beach on Lido Marina Island. Malibu Farm and Zinque are always the most instagrammable and delicious restaurants, and their boutique shops hold the best treasures. And of course the beach! It wouldn’t be Newport without the sand and ocean of the beach. Our favorite beaches are Blackies on the Peninsula and Crystal Cove. And there are always good people watching the shoreline!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve read a mountain of books, listened to many different business podcasts, and attended several conferences. But most of all, my dad has influenced my company and work most! An entrepreneur himself, he knew the highs and the lows that come with building a business and the ways to challenge yourself through it all. He has continually cheered me on, given some of the best advice in the entrepreneurial journey, and celebrated even the small milestones alongside me!
