We had the good fortune of connecting with Lisa Berry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lisa, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
One thing many are unaware of is that tea is the second most popular beverage in the world next to water. That tea can be enjoyed anytime of the day and the great thing about BBT is that we provide sugar and caffeine free blends.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My name is Lisa Berry and I’m a young entrepreneur who strives to be your favorite tea lady. Born and raised in South Los Angeles, California, and have managed to beat the odds by being the first in my family to attend and graduate college. I received my BA from UC Santa Barbara and my MA from Pacific Oaks College. Not only am I a single parent but also managing, Blended Berries Tea. I started Blended Berries Tea back in November 2017. BBT blends luxury herbal teas. Handmade with organic ingredients, packed with benefits, caffeine, and sugar free. I wanted to build something that the world can really benefit from while also spreading positivi-tea. I realized many people are experiencing different mental health problems and here at BBT we strive to inspire. I chose tea because not only is it the second most popular beverage in the world next to water but it is also a natural healer of many diseases.
My overall goal is to inspire and motivate others to live a more healthier, natural way of life.
I wanted to create a legacy, something that generations down the road can benefit from. I wanted to stand out from my peers but also produce what I could with the little funds that I had. I wanted to find ways to be different yet stand out. I chose tea because not only is it the second most popular beverage in the world next to water but it also helped me recover from my own digestive system issues. I also learned that tea is a natural healer for many things. Tea is lit.
My journey as a small business owner has been a roller coaster ride, however, I am not giving up on my dream. I have many plans for BBT. I’ve gotten this far by believing in myself, not giving up, and really getting out into the community and networking with folks. I want the world to know that BBT is spreading positiviTEA one sip at a time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Whenever I’m out with best friends, we’ll start with yoga at CAAM or through ThickGirlLA or even a walk up the street. Then we’ll have brunch at a new spot downtown, cook, or either hit The Court Cafe or The Serving Spoon. If we want some wine we’ll hit 1010 wines. Chill for a few and maybe hit downtown for some activities or go skating at Fountain Valley or maybe hit a black mart such as Black Flea Market, Black on the Block, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to shout out the Women’s Business Center for always providing great resources, they have helped me level up so much. As well as the Greater Los Angeles African American Chamber of Commerce (GLAAACC)
