Meet Lizeth Gomez owner of Yaquesita Mex LG

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizeth ” Liz” Gomez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lizeth ” Liz”, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As a proud Mexican with a deep appreciation for my heritage, I embarked on this business venture with a clear vision: to introduce the world to the authentic pet products of Mexico and share the richness of our culture and traditions. As an animal lover, I made sure that my creation would include our beloved pets, allowing them to enjoy our Mexican culture as well trough our carefully crafted products.
We collaborate with skilled artisans from Mexico, ensuring fair trade practices . Each item is crafted with great care and love. When you purchase an item, you are not only supporting us, but also the true talent of the communities of Mexican artisans.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My success is attributed to my consistent drive and determination to excel. As a one-woman team, I manage all aspects of my business, from marketing and inventory to product design, while also maintaining a full-time job as a payroll specialist and a Notary Public. So this is the part where it has been a little bit of a challenge for me, but my love for animals and my commitment to supporting animal rescues organizations keeps me motivated.

I am thrilled about the future of my business and the innovative, high-quality Mexican pet products we offer. What sets us apart is our commitment to providing unique, top-notch pet products and our dedication to donating 10% of every purchase to support animal rescues. Also, when you choose to shop
with us, you are not only supporting a small business but also contributing to the well-being of animals in need and employing Mexican artisans

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When friends or family come to visit, we usually plan a nature trip. California has so many cool places. We love camping in Sequoia National Park or renting a cabin by Big Bear Lake. We grill and have a good time, rent a boat, go on a hike. We loved getting away from the city and we make sure that we are able to bring our pets along.

If they want to stay in the city, we usually go to the beach and find a local Marisco’s restaurant.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to express my gratitude to my sisters, Glenda, Nayely, Merla, Vanessa, Viviana, Angela, and Michelle, for their unwavering support throughout my journey. Their presence has been a constant source of strength and encouragement since the very beginning. Whether it is providing valuable advice, sharing my stories, or attending my pop-up events, they have consistently demonstrated their commitment to my success.

I would also like to acknowledge the significant role played by my beloved dog, Max, whom I rescued six years ago. His presence in my life has had a profound impact on my personal growth and well-being. I am deeply grateful for the positive influence he has had on me, and I recognize the immense contribution he has made to my life.

Lastly, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to every pet parent and everyone else who has supported me throughout this journey. I have met so many wonderful people and lots of adorable pets . Thank you to those who have visited our booth, offered words of encouragement, purchased from me, and to those repeat customers, I am truly grateful for each and everyone of you.
