Meet Lizzy Hernandez | Artist & Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lizzy Hernandez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lizzy, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
One of the most crucial decisions I made that had a profound impact on my success was the conscious choice to no longer allow the negativity of others to influence me. I realized that tuning out the voices of the haters and naysayers and instead focusing on believing in my own abilities and potential was essential for my personal and professional growth. This shift in mindset not only empowered me to pursue my goals with confidence and determination but also enabled me to overcome obstacles and setbacks more effectively. By prioritizing self-belief and resilience, I was able to achieve significant milestones and experience remarkable personal growth. This realization has since become a cornerstone of my approach to success, guiding me to stay true to my vision and aspirations despite external pressures or criticism.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Inspira was the light at the end of a very dark tunnel. Unbeknownst to me at the time, it would be what saved my life. I have battled depression for most of my life, but it was in my 30s when my life took a dark turn. I was in the middle of a difficult marriage, grappling with constant panic and anxiety attacks. My daily routine consisted of crying and sleeping most of the day. That was until my 10-year-old son, Chris, said the words that would truly change my life for the better. He said, “Mom, I’m always going to remember you always sleeping and crying.” Those words pierced my heart and soul, and it was as if my brain was electrified and my mind became alive and awake. I knew what I had to do then. My mission became to replace those negative thoughts he had of me. While seeing a mental health specialist, my doctor advised me to pursue a hobby to keep my mind occupied. This is when I began creating, and it was through this act of creation that I found a new lease on life.
My journey of healing began with painting, creating inspirational jewelry, to our newfound love hat attire. I joyfully shared my creations with friends and anyone who admired a particular piece. Their feedback was always heartwarming, often expressing how my jewelry instilled them with confidence and good luck. Encouraged by my friends, who believed in the value of my creations, I decided to share them with a wider audience. This is how Inspira came into being. I envisioned a brand that could inspire others to believe in themselves. With every creation, Inspira infuses positive and healing energy, making each piece a symbol of hope and resilience.
My brand is deeply connected to my personal journey of overcoming adversity. Every piece of jewelry created by Inspira is more than just an accessory; it’s a symbol of hope and resilience. This special approach infuses our products with emotional significance. By sharing my journey and creations, I aim to build a supportive community that embraces the positive energy and inspiration our brand offers. My path definitely wasn’t easy, especially dealing with personal struggles while being a single mom, working full time, going back to school all while building my brand. However, having determination to change my life for the better and the willingness to seek help and pursue a better life were crucial steps.
We all have a story, but not all of us know how to overcome obstacles. I certainly didn’t, but I learned that I could turn my obstacles into creativity as a form of therapy. This not only helped me heal but also led to the birth of Inspira. We all have the ability to transform pain into something beautiful and inspiring. We hope that Inspira will guide you to the right path.
Through my journey, I have learned the importance of resilience and the ability to turn negative experiences into positive outcomes. Staying true to my personal story and mission has helped me connect with others on a deeper level, highlighting the value of authenticity. Building a supportive community around our brand has provided invaluable encouragement and motivation, emphasizing the significance of fostering a strong community.
We aim for Inspira, to be a beacon of hope and resilience. It shows that even in the darkest times, there is a way to find light and purpose. Our creations are not just jewelry but symbols of strength and inspiration, encouraging others to believe in themselves and their ability to overcome challenges.
Thank you for taking the time to hear about our story.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My excitement for road trips knows no bounds, so I would take my BFF on an epic adventure to El Paso, Texas. Where we would immerse ourselves in the serene surroundings of Licon Dairy, where we’ll meet and greet the gentle cows and savor the tranquil atmosphere. Additionally, we plan to explore various horse sanctuaries in the area, taking the time to bond with these magnificent animals. And who knows, maybe we’ll even have the chance to interact with some real-life cowboys, adding an authentic Texan touch to our unforgettable journey.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My success is a result of the support of many, but the one who has truly guided me on the right path is God. His presence has been the driving force behind my achievements, without which I wouldn’t be here, sharing my journey with you. It’s through His grace that I have my beloved son, Christopher, who has been my constant companion through the highs and lows of life. He’s been my rock, my cheerleader, and my best supporter. God has blessed me with extraordinary mentors to whom I owe an immeasurable debt. Annette Armas, from CJ’s Angels, and Kathy Cano Murillo, also known as The Crafty Chica, saw my potential when I couldn’t. During my most challenging times, they not only uplifted and supported me, but also provided me with nourishment and affection. Their belief in me has been a truly transformative force in my life. And finally, my best friend, Hortencia Aguirre of Muy Nice Hortencia. I met her when my marriage was ending and in a very dark depression. It’s as if God knew what he was doing when he crossed our paths, because she has been a beacon of sunshine and bright colors in my life, even through the hard times.
