We had the good fortune of connecting with Lloyd “Spec” Turner Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lloyd “Spec” Turner, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I truly feel that I didn’t choose to be artistic or a creator, it chose me. I started out taking music lessons but decided that I didn’t want to actually know what chords or progressions technically went together but wanted the feeling to override the lesson. At that moment I knew that being a creator was in my soul and spirit and not just a taught skill.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey was not an easy one. In the music business technology has leveled the playing field. I’m a music producer and composer. My diversity in different music genres sets me apart from other producers. I don’t have a signature sound but my quality speaks volumes. Hard work and lots of research keeps my prepared for the constant changes in this industry. The main lesson I learned from this journey is to, never be afraid to walk away from a deal or contract.

The one thing to take away from my story is to be true to the art. We all need money to live but never put the money before the art.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being a Vegan , we would go to this Ba/Restaurant named ” Bar Vegan” and “The Boujee Southerner” In Grayson GA. Amazing Vegan foods and Signature “Dry Ice Cocktails”.
Then venture out to the T.I. Atlanta‘s “Trap Museum ”
Then for a full day of history we would walk the “Atlanta Belt Line”

Can’t forget shopping and eating all local foods and products at “Ponce City Market “
