We had the good fortune of connecting with London Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi London, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My balance has changed a lot since I started my first business. I am currently a senior inhigh school. I’ve been participating in intermural sports for years, soccer, baseball and basketball. In high school I decided to focus on basketball, participating in AAU and my high school team. To take my brand to another level, I took a year off from sports to really focus on my brand and give it my all. It was the best decision I ever made and it has helped me figure out how to balance everything at a young age.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
On July 22, 2020, I was involved in a car accident with my family. A man that was high on methamphetamine, passed out at the wheel, drove left of center and hit us head on. I nearly lost my life. As a result I was unconscious and woke up in the emergency room with a fractured and broken nose, multiple facial fractures, a concussion, and a skull fracture. I was in the hospital for 3 days. I had surgery to repair the damage to my nose and for observation. While in the hospital I decided it was time to launch my brand. I came up with an idea to make a logo based off the car accident. The moment I got out of the hospital and was able to operate by myself, I got straight to work. Fast forward 2 months and September 1st (my birthday) I officially dropped my first ever collection for OneChance.
I am most proud of my consistency. There are not many high schoolers who can turn a brand into a six figure business. I have not missed a month of dropping since I started in 2020. It was not easy and still is a hard-working process. I know if I stay true to myself and stay on this course everything will be fine.
One lesson I have learned along the way is that patience is key. If you take your time and attempt to perfect the in’s & out of each drop, the outcome will be better.
One thing I want the world to know about my brand, is that every single design and collection I drop has a meaning to it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First, I would take them out to breakfast to First Watch. For lunch I would take them to lunch at Bite Creole Kitchen. For a little fun, we would go to Van Aken as we eat outside the do a little shopping and watch some live bands perform. For dinner I would take them to Pizzazz On The Circle. To end the day off, I’d take them to Mitchell’s Ice Cream for desert.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are many people that have helped me get this far. First and for most I’d like to give a shout out to my uncle. He paid for my first ever graphic design to get made. Next, I want to give a huge shout out to my mom, she does all of the behind the scenes work for my brand. She helps with most of my administrative stuff and business accounting. Last but not least, my entire team. From all of my models, my designers and social media managers.
