We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorelei Marcell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lorelei, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind the success of my brand is playing the long game and keeping my head down. Persistence and the hours put into something will speak for itself I believe. I’ve always been given this advice by my family that nothing happens over night, especially a lasting music career.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been in music professionally for about 3/3.5 years now and it is something i’ve always been passionate about. Ive released 34 songs to date and counting, which is all very exiting considering I’m really just getting started. I believe what sets me apart from others is my voice. Singing was my first instrument and first passion, so I owe a lot of my instincts and abilities to my background in voice. No self made career is easy, as its one of the most all consuming things you could do. Keeping my head down and focusing in on my own craft is so important, as comparison is the death of creativity, (I think that’s what they say…?) Either way, it’s true. I would love for people to know I’m here to stay and that I can’t wait to be their next favorite artist. My story is really just beginning.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As far as food, Gardens Of Taxco In West Hollywood is my favorite spot to order food from, but when going out to eat, swingers Diner or Sugar Fish in Studio City. The best sushi you will ever have! I’m a coffee fanatic, and Verve Coffee is my favorite place to go. Barneys Beanery is my favorite bar in the area too. As far as activities go, I always take my guests to Runyon Canyon for a mini hike. As well as some comedy shows! The Laugh factory and the Comedy Store are a must when in LA.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My first mentor in music I met when I was 13. He was a writer / artist out of Nashville, who went by the name of Shannon McAuthor. He found my covers on instagram, and after my parents made sure everything was safe I began writing with him over Skype. It all felt so surreal and at this age and until this point, I never really understood what songwriting was. I have him to thank for getting my foot in the door and always being so supportive of me and my career even at a very early age.
