We had the good fortune of connecting with Lorena Placeres and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lorena, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always been drawn to the world of art and creativity. For me, it’s about expressing emotions, telling stories, and connecting with others on a deeper level. My artistic journey is a way to explore my own identity, challenge societal norms, and inspire others to see the world from different perspectives.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been working on a lot of projects that are still in post-production, but I’d say that I’m thrilled about the project “Cheater” that won Best Horror Film at the Pageant Film Festival; and I’m proud to have recently served as a judge for the “3rd Sunshine Women, Sunshine Girls” Talent Competition and the “World Outstanding Asian Women” Awards Ceremony. It was an honor to be part of these events celebrating talented women and their achievements.

I’ve learned to enjoy the journey, not the destination. I’ve faced numerous challenges, but I’ve learned to embrace these challenges as opportunities for growth. I’ve overcome them by staying true to my vision, being open to feedback, and continously pushing myself to improve.

Through my art, I aim to connect with people on a deeper level, and inspire others. My story is one of passion, creativity and perseverance, and I’m excited to share it with the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love creating personalized experiences for my friends, tailored to their unique interests and tastes.

One idea could be renting bikes at Santa Monica Beach and riding along the coastal path to Venice Beach, where we can explore the local shops and scenery.

Afterward, we’d head back to Santa Monica for dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., a fun nod to the classic film Forrest Gump.

To wrap up the day, we’d visit the Santa Monica Pier, enjoy the amusement park games, and try to win some prizes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m grateful to my acting coaches Anthony Gilardi, Sid Mallya, and Tony Rago for their guidance and expertise. And to my fellow actor friends, thank you for the collaborations, inspiration, and growth we’ve shared on this journey.
