Meet Louis Kuo | Guitarist/Tour Manager/Instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Louis Kuo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Louis, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’m a musician who graduated from Musicians Institute. But during the pandemic in 2020, the world shot down for few years, and it was a tough period for all musicians, cuz we can’t play music with anyone in live. Therefore, I tried to do some music arrangement, and music business stuff since then.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
After I graduated from MI, I decided to go to China, and work with a band called “The Brownie Band”. But since I got in China. The pandemic let me locked down in Shanghai for 3 months. Everything is tough during that time, but I didn’t give up. God bless I have an experience before when I was working in Taiwan. It’s not too hard for me to work in China. In 2024, I formed an entertainment company to manage tour for international artists to tour in Asia. It’s not too difficult for me to manage for artists, cuz I’m also a musician. I can understand what they need for help, but the most challenge thing for me is organizing a company. It’s totally different than being a musician, so I thing that’s the most difficult thing for me currently.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve been living in different cities before, like Taipei, Shanghai, and Los Angeles. And LA is my favorite city that I ever live in my life. The climate is pretty nice, and people are really kind. If my friends are visiting me, I’ll definitely bring them to Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara is my favorite place to go for a vacation. I’ve been there many times, and I really love the view in Santa Barbara, and I always go to a restaurant called “Bit O’Denmark” in Solvang. Which is a Denmark town, 30 mile away from Santa Barbara. I’ve been to the restaurant every time when I go to Santa Barbara.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I was working in a live house called “Jack Studio” back in my hometown in Taipei. And I was working there for 2 years, and doing live executive. It was a great experience for me to understand how’s a show working. Also I got a lot of opportunity to work with different kind of artist. For example: Luke Holland, Mike Johnston, etc. It helps a lot for me to work as a tour manager after.
