We had the good fortune of connecting with Luscious. T. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Luscious., what do you attribute your success to?
One of the most important factors behind my success in entertainment has been perseverance. Life will always throw you curve balls and you won’t always feel like you’re on the right track. But that can be a good thing. Redefining your brand, reevaluating what is important to you and what you want to put out into the universe, is all relative. Some times the curve balls are just the thing that leads us into the future.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In 2011, I moved from the Bronx, New York to Los Angeles to study and receive my Bachelors in Dance Theater at The American Musical & Dramatic Academy. Since graduating in 2014, I’ve had the opportunity to travel the world and work with well known artists such as Bad Bunny, Megan The Stallion, Jennifer Lopez, & Eva Longoria. I’ve also always been a lover of the arts and have had the opportunity to direct, choreograph, and even work in photography. When Covid hit in 2019, I used the time to put all my gifts together and create the “Drag Superstar” known as Luscious T. Luscious is not only a great time full of laughs. She’s also ferocious, timeless, and of course, luscious. Originally, I was hesitant to throw my full attention into drag but it has been such a rewarding experience that I have no regrets. Being able to tap into my creativity from looks, to music, to makeup, has been very fulfilling. Best part, having a chosen family of fellow LGBTQIA+ performers who support you and look after you. That is priceless.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my bestfriend was visiting for a week we’d start at my favorite place in North Hollywood, Republic of Pie. Yes, not only coffee but pie too! Next we’d definitely have to take a trip to Universal and spend the day riding rides and eating oversized donuts. You definitely can’t visit LA without a trip to the beach. So I’d definitely take them to Santa Monica or El Matador, where we can enjoy the sun and laughs. For food, local taco trucks are always my favorite. For something a little more indoor, Fat Dog is always a great go to.(Also located in North Hollywood). During the week, we’d hit West Hollywood for drinks and friends. Some great clubs such as Heart, Mickys, and Trunks Bar. For the weekend, we’d attend my favorite places in Downtown Los Angeles, The Precinct and Redline. Two great spots in DTLA that celebrate diversity and also have great events and music.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my dad & mom, Lewis & Yvette and also my sisters, Venus & Jordan. Also to my drag family, Honey Davenport, Aziza Bijoü, Suadé, and Cece CanTell.
