We had the good fortune of connecting with Lydia Robles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Lydia, what do you attribute your success to?
I believe one of the most important factors behind the success of my brand is the genuine relationships I’ve built with new people. I have always been a very quiet person so this was definitely out of my comfort zone. I found that the more I shared about myself and about my brand, the more people felt connected to me as if they knew me in real life. From a business standpoint, I’ve learned that you need to give to others before you can receive. It takes not only time, but also connections with people to get the word out about what you can really do for others. I am so proud of how much I’ve pushed myself this year and how much I’ve grown both as a person and brand.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Yes, so I specialize in digital design for both personal and business purposes. I have done everything from memorial illustrations to holiday themed portraits to custom logos and business branding. I started off with simple illustrated portraits for people and their families and have since branched out into helping other build their own brand and business. What separates me apart from others is that I genuinely care about my customers and supporters from both a business standpoint and at a personal level. I want to see everyone succeed in what they do and know that they have someone cheering for them even if we haven’t personally met. This is definitely what I am most proud about because not a lot of businesses can say this. To get to where I am today professionally took a lot of trial and error, hard work, and dedication. It was not an easy journey and I’m still learning everyday. There were times where I was questioning myself, my artistic abilities, and if I’m even good enough to be starting a business. What got me through these times was the support and feedback I’d receive from my followers on Instagram. People love what I do and the person I am outside of this business persona. One lesson I’ve learned along the way is that no one is going to do it for you. You need to put the effort in and do it for yourself regardless if the people in your life support you or not. There is a world full of strangers who are rooting for you to succeed. I want everyone who is reading this to know that if I can do it, you can too!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Luckily my best friend is my high school sweetheart! Southern California has been my home ever since I was born and I love it! Entertainment wise, nothing can beat the Disneyland Resort and California Adventure theme parks. There truly is something for everyone and it has been my escape from the real world for many many years now. Whenever I get stressed out about work, school, or life in general I have to take a trip down to Disney. As for food, one of our favorite spots to visit in the area is the Riverside Food Lab – specifically Baba’s Hot Chicken. They have the best spicy chicken sandwich I’ve ever had along with some amazing loaded french fries.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout out my amazing boyfriend who has stood by me through both the good and bad sides of running a small business. He has definitely kept me sane throughout this crazy journey and I’m so lucky to have him in my life. I am also thankful for my sister Angelina and my cousins who have supported me and my page since I first started. If it wasn’t for the support, encouragement, and love from my followers on Instagram I don’t think I would be where I am today. I will be forever grateful for not only my supportive family, but also the complete strangers I’ve met online who continue to support me in whatever I do.
