We had the good fortune of connecting with Lyndsey Vincent Archer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lyndsey, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?

It’s true what they say – relationships are everything! Whether you’re working for a large company, or operating as a solopreneur, people will remember how you made them feel, your work ethic and your character. You will not get along with every peer, manager, or client, but you can still be kind and respectful. When it comes to running a business, word of mouth is the best marketing and its all the more important to cultivate relationships, establish trust, and deliver on your commitments.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

Certainly! From a very young age, I loved to paint, draw and create. Growing up, I used to spend hours after-school at my dad’s architecture studio, admiring the physical models and stacks of drawings.  It was the love of these two worlds, art & architecture, that led me to pursue a career in Interior Design. I love how this profession beautifully blends imagination and artistry with technical problem-solving to create physical spaces that have the potential to augment the human experience and foster connection.

After receiving my B.S. of Interior Design, I was fortunate to spend the first 11 years of my career at The Walt Disney Company, working alongside world-class talent on some truly incredible projects such as Shanghai Disneyland Resort and the re-imagining of EPCOT Center at Walt Disney World.  I learned so much during my tenure with Disney – the art of collaboration, the joy of working alongside artisans, and ultimately how to design spaces that are not only beautiful, but functional and durable.

Fast-forward to 2020 – the pandemic hit the Themed Entertainment industry hard, and although I was fortunate to remain employed, the time working from home provided the space to reflect and consider what might be next. Entrepreneurship and launching my own design studio was something I’d considered over the years, but was always too terrified to take the leap. Turns out, a pandemic was the kick in the pants I needed – I resigned from Disney in October of 2021 and founded LVincent Studios.

Today, the studio operates with a small team of mutli-disciplinary designers, focused on the creative visioning, design, and delivery of high-end architectural environments. Our work often starts in the earliest phases of design, partnering with our clients to define the overall creative vision and narrative for the project, which then informs the following phases of detail design and delivery. We are highly collaborative and love a good challenge – we don’t shy away from the “never been seen before” projects! For example, we’re partnering with a client in LA to imagine and deliver a new kind of retail store, one that employs state-of-the-art technology and curated interactives to enhance the customer journey and built brand affinity. Overseas, we’ve been fortunate to collaborate with clients in emerging markets, creating unique spaces and culturally-considerate experiences to drive growth. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been dreaming up once these projects go live!

One thing I’d like to mention that sets the studio apart is our collective illustrative design style. Myself, as well as those on my team, are proficient in design drafting, sketching and hand-rendering – skills that resonate strongly with our clients, but seem to be slipping away in our industry, especially with advances in 3D modeling and the emergence of AI. We are passionate about maintaining these art forms as an integral part of our design process, while embracing new technology and harnessing its power to augment our deliverables.

In summary, my journey from Artist to Imagineer to Entrepreneur has been quite the adventure I am so thankful for the people I’ve met and places I’ve traveled to along the way. However, I believe the best is yet to come as our studio continues to grow and take on more one-of-a-kind projects for our clients worldwide!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

This is a hard one as there is so much to love about LA! Nevertheless, here are some of my tried and true spots that I always take guests to… 1. Take a Hike – my favorites include the quintessential sunrise trek to Griffith Observatory or the Hollywood Sign, or the steep climb to Echo Mountain via the Sam Merrill Trail
2. Grab a coffee at Copa Vida (Old Town Pasadena)
3. Treat yourself to a pastry (or even better a full meal) at Little Flower Cafe (Pasadena)
4.. Visit the Huntington or Descanso Gardens
5. If you’re into architecture & design, book tours at the Case Study houses (particularly #8), Gamble House, or one of Frank Lloyd Wright’s commissions)
6. Museums – too many to name, but I always love visiting the Broad (DTLA) and the Norton Simon (Pasadena)
7. Restaurants….the most challenging as I am a big-time foodie. My staples are Bone Kettle (Pasadena), Luggage Room (Pasadena), Blaire’s (Eagle Rock), Momed (Atwater), Bestia (DTLA) and a new favorite BaarBaar (DTLA). When in doubt or searching for new eats, I always trust EaterLAs heat map & essentials.
8. Bars: The classic DTLA rooftops are fun for visiting guests (The Perch, Ace Hotel, Hoxton). For smaller, more intimate vibes, I always love Good Housekeeping (HLP), The San Fernando (Glendale), and a little winery called Cornell Wine Co. (go for a bottle of wine and stay for the accompaniments and atmosphere).
9. Hang-outs: Venice is always a great idea, along with walks through Old Town Pasadena or a day-drive along Hwy 1.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

First, my husband, who has been my biggest encourager on this entrepreneurial journey – he lifts me up when the going gets tough, pushes me when I am doubting, and gives me the space to refine my craft . Secondly, I’d like to give a shoutout to my mentors and previous managers at Walt Disney Imagineering – I was fortunate to work for some amazing individuals during my tenure with Disney and I will be forever grateful for the doors they opened, the wisdom they imparted, and their continued friendship.
