We had the good fortune of connecting with Lyndzy Gordon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lyndzy, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’m a creative, colorful soul and want to incorporate that and my passions into every aspect of my life, including my career. I love creating designs that people can wear! Seeing folks wearing my artwork on their bodies makes me incredibly proud.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
*Size* *inclusive* *apparel* that is not only cute but comfortable. I was sick of being unable to find cute, geeky, clothes that I enjoyed wearing in my size so I made my own. It’s not easy though, because I hire a 3rd party production house to sew my clothing I am limited to the patterns and sizes they offer. I’ve worked with several production teams throughout the years to help adjust fit and make larger sizes. That is a challenge I face every day. I have to come out of pocket to order multiple samples in various sizes and find different body types to try the apparel out so I have an idea of how it fits.

One of my pet peeves in the fashion industry is “plus” sizes that actually fit 1-2 sizes smaller than they are labeled. I do my very best to provide true-to-size apparel and be knowledgeable enough about the sizes I offer to be able to tell customers if something fits a little big, or small. etc.

Another challenge I face, and probably the biggest, is the turnaround time. Because I’m just a small brand that offers so many sizes, it’s financially impossible for me to keep that much stock. Everything in my shop is made-to-order, which not only makes it feasible for little ‘ol me to sell apparel but is also more environmentally conscious. There is so much waste in the fast fashion industry! It typically would take around 4 weeks from placing the order to having the clothing in the customer’s hands, however, since the pandemic started it’s caused insane delays in production and shipping increasing that to around 6-8 weeks. While I thankfully have many understanding customers who don’t mind waiting that long, there is a huge amount of customers + potential customers that do mind and will not order because of it. There’s been a dramatic decrease in my sales because of it.

I want the world to know that Bunni Designs is run by a chubby, geeky, indie artist who just wants to share her passions with others. I work incredibly hard, every single day, to bring my little brand to life and I appreciate everyone who has supported me along the way!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I just moved so I’ll focus this on the city I just left, and spent 30 years of my life in, Memphis, TN. I have a love-hate relationship with this city, however, I’ll focus my itinerary on the good.

Get coffee + taiyaki at the little coffee shop inside the Cordova International Farmer’s Market.
Hike the trails around the dog park at Shelby Farms and the Wolfriver trails.

Grab some homemade paletas from La Michoacana and lunch from Gus’s Chicken for a picnic at the Botanic Gardens.

After the gardens, walk around the Overton Square/Cooper Young area and hopefully catch a concert at the Shell.

Have dinner at Flame Ramen and get boba from Pokeworld for dessert.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
MinZprint! They are the ones who helped me bring my designs to life! I was posting messy fashion doodles on the internet when they approached me asking if I’d like to take my designs to the next level. Thanks to them, Bunni Designs became more than just sloppy, wishful, sketches. We worked together to take my art and turn it into something wearable. They retired back in 2018 and I am doing my best to continue their legacy of fandom-inspired apparel.
