We had the good fortune of connecting with Madison Ortiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Madison, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Growing up in a low-income family, I was always captivated by the fashion and beauty industry—whether it was experimenting with my mom’s makeup, watching America’s Next Top Model, or taking portraits of my friends. With a lot of fundraising and a dream, I dove into the world of pageantry, which became a 13-year journey of trial and error. With no family experience in pageants, I navigated the complexities of hair, makeup, nails, skincare, and fashion on my own. Over time, I built confidence and honed my beauty expertise. Today, I’m thrilled to share the fashion tips, product recommendations, and tricks I’ve learned, and I’m grateful to collaborate with incredible brands like Dove, Pretty Little Thing, Armani Beauty, YSL Beauty, Milk Makeup, and Milani Cosmetics. As a Latina creator, I strive to be the representation I longed for as a child, aiming to provide fashion and beauty advice that empowers and instills confidence in my audience and community.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart in the online beauty and lifestyle space is my multi-hyphenate approach. Often, we’re boxed into a single identity, but why not embrace multiple roles and create our own unique niches? Over my twenty-four years, I’ve transformed my diverse interests into valuable skills in the entertainment world, including acting, spray tanning, content creation, modeling, and corporate marketing management. I cherish the experiences and connections I’ve made in each of these areas. While being a multi-hyphenate is exciting, it’s crucial to balance it with self-care to avoid burnout. I aim to inspire others to explore new passions, invest in themselves, and enjoy the journey, because life is too short not to.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Los Angeles feels like home to me, and when I think of this city, I imagine the star-studded lifestyle it’s known for. While some might call me “bougie on a budget,” I prefer to think of it as enjoying the rewards of my hard work! If my friends were visiting, I’d definitely take them to my favorite spots in West LA.

We’d start by checking into the West Hollywood Edition and then head to Community Goods for a coffee or matcha to kickstart our day. Next, we’d dive into the excitement at Universal Studios, enjoying the rides and perhaps the iconic Studio Tour, with dreams of one day filming there ourselves. After a day of adventure, we’d get dressed up for a dinner at Casa Madera on Sunset, savoring a meal with a stunning view of the sunset. We’d make sure to capture some Instagram-worthy moments while we’re all glammed up. Finally, we’d wrap up the evening with cocktails on the West Hollywood Edition Rooftop, taking in the breathtaking LA skyline by night.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my mom’s unwavering support and love. No matter the practice, audition, class, rehearsal, or appearance, she was always there. Despite coming from a low-income background, she found a way to fund every extracurricular activity I pursued—whether it was soccer, pageants, acting, gymnastics, voice lessons, track and field, or modeling. She worked overtime and made countless sacrifices to give me opportunities she never had. Her dedication inspires me to seize every opportunity and embody the same hard work and determination she demonstrated.
