Meet Maëva Feitelson | Performer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Maëva Feitelson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maëva, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’m not really sure to be honest. I don’t think I made a choice. I love it. That’s all. It was natural for it to be a part of my professional life and I wasn’t sure in what capacity it was going to be, but I always studied music and grew up in a family of actors so I guess I just couldn’t see myself doing anything other than something creative.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a singer, actor, musician and dancer, born and raised in French Alpes, with Iranian and Scottish/Lithuanian Jewish heritage. I trained in Musical Theatre in London and before that trained as a classical violinist and pianist. I first did a BA to teach music but had fallen in love with musicals on a trip to London, when I was 15, and couldn’t seem to get over it. So, I took a chance and applied for a Dramaschool when I turned 23, I got accepted and it changed my life! I wanted it so badly for years, but coming from a small town it seemed impossible for someone like me to ever get this dream. I had to learn how to sing, act, dance and speak a whole different language fluently. I studied during the pandemic which was challenging but years later, I have achieved more than I could’ve ever hoped for. I got to perform in the Westend and now in Los Angeles. I have the most amazing agents at Aperture Talent Agency and they’ve given me so much support. There still is so much I’d like to tick off of my dream list and I’m going to keep working hard to see what more life has in store for me! I just finished my second run in Tarantino Pulp Rock in Inglewood, at the Cinevita, and I’m going to be a leading lady in a musical at the end of the summer (can’t tell the name of the show yet but I am VERY excited about it!).

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Love that question! I would definitely take them for a hike in Griffith, have lunch at Figaro Bistrot in Los Feliz, and go check out the vintage shops in that neighbourhood.
I’d probably take them to spend a day in Venice Beach and Santa Monica and another day would have to be pancakes at the Griddle and diner at Ma’s Italian Kitchen in Burbank with the afternoon at The Santee Alley! Also would have to go see some stand up at The Bourbon Room and some live music at The Record Parlour. And of course try some taco trucks !

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I went to Dramaschool at the International College of Musical Theatre of London. The support, encouragement and belief my teachers had in me was like nothing I had ever experienced. When training in Classical music, I had been told that my voice was « hard to listen to » but when I arrived at the ICMT they made me feel special, they made me realise I had a gift and I could follow my wildest dreams if I worked hard. Some of the teachers that truly pushed and inspired me were Emma Clifford, John Barr, Clare Foster, Robert Irons and Christopher Tendaï. Their talent, both as performers and teachers gave me so much and they were always there when I doubted myself or needed to be shaken a bit. Also Melania Maggiore and Onelia Soldini have been by my side as singing teachers ever since and are always one text or phone call away when I need my mentors to come to the rescue ! I’m sure I’m forgetting some really important people right now (which is stressing me out) but I hope anyone who’s been a small part of my journey knows they’re a big part of my victories.
