We had the good fortune of connecting with Maggie Moon Berwick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maggie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After living in Venice for six years, I began to notice a clear gap in the Westside beauty market—specifically when it came to brows. Many of my clients were traveling from the Westside to Beverly Hills to see me because there simply weren’t local options offering what I do. While there were brow studios, none focused on a truly niche, natural approach. I saw an opportunity to create something intentional: a space centered on preserving the integrity of the hair, using clean, natural products, and creating effortless, unfussy brows that still feel elevated. Starting my own business was about bringing that level of care and craftsmanship closer to the community I live in.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work has always lived at the intersection of beauty, fashion, travel, and real life. Brows may be the medium, but the art is about restraint, intuition, and individuality. I approach brows the same way I approach style or travel—observing first, honoring what’s already there, and refining rather than overpowering. I’m most interested in creating something that feels effortless and lived-in, not overly done.

What sets my work apart is my commitment to preserving the integrity of the hair and the face. Brows shouldn’t feel trend-driven or overworked. My goal is always to create balance—something timeless that works just as well with a bare face as it does with a full look.
My path to where I am today wasn’t linear or easy. I built my career slowly, through trust, relationships, and word of mouth. Fashion shaped my sense of proportion, travel expanded my perspective, and life taught me to rely on instinct as much as technique. Choosing to stay niche in an industry that often favors trends came with challenges, but it ultimately clarified my point of view.

What I’m most proud of is creating work that feels subtle yet impactful—and building a brand rooted in integrity, intention, and community. At its core, my story is about confidence without excess and beauty that allows people to feel like the most elevated version of themselves, without losing what makes them unique.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d give them a true Venice experience—easy, sun-soaked, and rooted in the neighborhood. Mornings would start at Little Lunch for coffee, followed by a bike ride along the beach path. We’d grab omusubi at Sunny Blue on Main, then spend the afternoon wandering—vintage shopping at Animal House on Windward and Mr. Blackfoot on Westminster, two of my favorite places for finding pieces with real character.

Evenings would be slow and intentional. Dinner at Dudley Market is a must—beautiful food done right—followed by wandering the neighborhood and watching the epic Venice sunsets, picking up bites from local vendors along the boardwalk. One night would absolutely be authentic fish and chips at Wee Chippy, no notes.

The best part of Venice is the energy—artists, locals, creatives, and longtime characters all sharing the same streets. It’s not about doing too much; it’s about moving at the right pace, soaking it in, and letting the city reveal itself naturally.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout goes to my clients. From the very beginning of my career, the relationships I’ve built with the people in my chair have shaped both my work and my life. They’ve supported me through every stage, trusted me with their faces, and shared their stories, wisdom, advice, and resources along the way. Those connections go far beyond beauty—they’ve been a constant source of inspiration, encouragement, and growth. I truly wouldn’t be where I am without them.
