We had the good fortune of connecting with Maggie Parto and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maggie, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I’m a middle child that always had to swim faster and get better grades, graduate early so I could stand out and get more attention–so taking risks has been my natural although I have to say I have no idea where I get it from….wait I know…def from my Mom, she’s a badass…she is a lioness.! I will say at the same time taking risks have thought me some major life lessons….the thing is you just have to keep going and don’t look back!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m very excited about couple of projects coming out hopefully later this year and early next year. I’m also focused on creating my own projects and that always brings a sense of balance to my world as I feel I have some control…it has not been easy and by writing and creating and staying physically active, I get out of my own way! I would love to become a better person daily and spread love and if I can be of service and help others to avoid the mistakes I made, I would be happy. I’m grateful to be able to do what I love and to have the opportunity to play diverse and multi cultural roles.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love coffee shops and if a friend is visiting we would start in OC (Little France Bakery) they have the best desserts and work our way up to Hollywood area….eat and drink along the way to see the sights and stop for boba tea along the way. Stop in Santa Monica and watch the magic of Sun hitting the water as we do a little bit of California Dreamin….I mean after all it is LA LA LAND and just one opportunity can change your whole entire life forever! Meeting Tom Cruise is my California Dreamin….I would love to work with him!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I will say my high school teacher Mr. Profit for sure….he believed in me. I think we as humans need that recognition, love and support. My teachers which have been many but Alex Tayler, Larry Moss and I would love to say a big thank you to the Casting Directors who called me in over and over again…one that gave me a wonderful opportunity among others was Carol Kritzer, I’m so grateful. Also my Acting Community….my Actor friends are the most supportive and we need support big time.
