We had the good fortune of connecting with Maken Row and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maken, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Hi, I’m Maken Row, a music producer based in Barcelona.
Interestingly, I didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming a musician. As a kid, I never imagined this would be my path, even though music was always present at home. I was raised listening to albums like Nevermind by Nirvana and Appetite for Destruction by Guns N’ Roses.
My mum always tells me that a month before I was born, she went to an AC/DC concert — so I like to think I was born with rock in my veins.
When I was 15, my grandmother gave a small electric guitar to my younger sister. And like any classic sibling rivalry, I wanted mine too. That’s when I got my first guitar — and from that moment on, I knew music was meant to be a part of my life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think it’s important to point out that yes — music is art. A lot of people, when they hear modern music, especially the kind we make with computers, tend to think it’s not really art or that it’s easy to create. But the truth is, behind every track — even the simplest one — there are hours of work, dedication, and creative decision-making.
My style is mainly defined by a blend of heavy rock guitars and electronic music. In all of my beats, without exception, there’s always a guitar. That’s kind of my personal signature.
What I believe sets me apart is my constant effort to keep an analog touch in a digital world. I like mixing classic production techniques with modern tools. For example, I still record my guitars using my Marshall amp and a Shure SM57 mic, and then I blend that with synths and digital mixing techniques.
That contrast between the organic and the digital is, for me, what gives the sound personality and soul.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were to visit, I’d plan a week full of rock concerts, following the Blink-182 tour. We’d start each day with motorcycle rides around the city, exploring the coolest spots and enjoying the freedom that only two wheels can offer. In the afternoons, I’d take him to places where we could catch live music, and at night, the energy of Blink-182 concerts would be the highlight. After each show, we’d grab a late-night kebab, because honestly, what better way to end the night than with some street food and good laughs?
I believe it’s not so much about the plans or the places, but the company. The truly fun and memorable moments come from being with the people you care about, sharing experiences like these filled with music, adrenaline, and good food.
