Meet Makenzie Green | Director of Partnerships and Events, The Agency RE

We had the good fortune of connecting with Makenzie Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Makenzie, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Here at the Agency we believe it’s a privilege to give back to our community. We believe it’s our responsibility, but candidly love doing it and are continually looking for opportunities to bring about positive change.
At The Agency, philanthropy is not a division or a singular event but rather a lifestyle that our brokerage family has adopted. Our spirit of giving is contagious and incorporated into many of our firm’s initiatives, including company-wide volunteer days, donations to local charities and organizations, and helping to end homelessness throughout the regions we serve.
When it comes to helping others, we are all in as a company. We sell homes for a living, and our hearts are positioned to care for the people and communities we represent.
Through our partnership with Giveback Homes, we turn transactions into opportunities for social good. We come together to support the organization’s Build Day events, where we help construct homes for families in need across our markets and around the world.
I truly believe the more you give, the bigger your world becomes.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My professional title is Director of Partnerships and Events, but I think my unofficial job title could be, Dot Connector. What gets me excited about my job is the ability to create a unique experience for individuals through The Agency’s events, partnerships, sponsorships, and philanthropy. I love those “OMG!” moments and leaving winks throughout everything I do.
My focus is to build relationships with people from all different backgrounds and professions and connect with them with each other, giving them meaningful reasons to collaborate. And if I personally don’t know someone who can help with a specific project, I for sure know someone who knows someone, or I won’t stop until I do.
Someone once said to me, what you do is magic! When, in reality I just always strive to really listen to everyone I meet. And candidly, sometimes it’s what they don’t say that moves to action.
One of the biggest lessons I have learned that impacts both my professional and personal life is to constantly “Check My Circle;” a concept I learned from a sermon by Pastor Rich Wilkerson Jr.
Essentially, Pastor Rich explains the importance of surrounding yourself with people who will inspire you, lead you, and call you out, to help you fulfill your greatest potential. The people in your life are shaping your future, so, if you feel like you’re not fulfilling your purpose or feel as if you are going in circles, you need to stop to check your circle. There are people around you to help you, mentor you, and lead you; then in time you will be able to help someone else.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
But first, coffee, everyday should be powered by Blue Bottle – I order the New Orleans with oat milk. For meals, the Chicken Chop Salad from La Scala and the “Trust Me” from SugarFish are a must and Il Pastio is always on the list for dinner (bonus for the people watching on the patio). One of my favorite places in LA is the Los Angeles Union Rescue Mission; schedule a volunteer spot in the kitchen with Alex or O.J. who will provide loud belly laughs. Then make it to the beach at sunset in either Santa Monica or Malibu with a good bottle of red wine. When my friends are visiting, Poppy in West Hollywood is a non-negotiable, I call it my Graceland.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to Mauricio Umansky and Billy Rose for creating an unmatchable culture and family at The Agency; I am so blessed to work alongside both of them, and of course, a Shout out to my Pastors Chad and Julia Veach from Zoe Church LA for their leadership, inspiration, support, guidance and for creating the greatest community in the world.
