We had the good fortune of connecting with Manami Toda and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Manami, how does your business help the community?
Good Things For Us is dedicated to providing truly beneficial resources and practices for holistic wellness. Here’s how we make a positive impact on the community and the world:
1. Providing Truly Good Things:
Good Things For Us is committed to offering products and practices that are genuinely good for wellness. Our focus is on depth and essence, not just the surface, ensuring that what we offer is beneficial in every direction. We believe that real good things should be good for the individual, the community, and the environment.
2. Educational Resources:
We provide comprehensive educational resources, including online classes and workshops, designed to empower individuals with knowledge and skills for holistic well-being. Our courses cover topics such as how the body works, the fundamentals of the nervous system, the role of nutrition in functional medicine, and the mind-body connection. These resources help people take proactive steps toward becoming their true selves and reclaiming their power, reducing the need for “doctor shopping” by promoting self-sufficiency in health management.
3. Personal Nutrition Coaching and Community Connection:
As a personal nutrition coach, I focus on authenticity, helping individuals build inner strength and fostering mental and emotional well-being. Our supportive environment encourages people to embrace their true selves and provides a safe platform where individuals can connect, share experiences, and support each other. This collective support is crucial for overall well-being, creating a network of individuals who uplift each other.
4. Sustainability and Environmental Stewardship:
Understanding how toxins like pesticides, chemicals, and heavy metals affect our health, we practice health measures that lead to good environmental practices. We make choices that are good for us and also protect both the environment and future generations. Our commitment to teaching people tools and skills to choose what is good for themselves naturally aligns with sustainability. This ensures that our practices benefit the planet and promote a healthier future.
5. Spreading Transformative Change:
Our philosophy is based on the belief that taking care of oneself and practicing self-love can inspire others. This ripple effect of transformative change can enhance communities, spreading love, trust, and genuine care from person to person.
Through these efforts, Good Things For Us offers holistic wellness products, practices, educational resources, and a supportive community, helping individuals achieve better health while contributing to a more informed, connected, and sustainable world.
Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way? What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I am the founder of Good Things For Us, a holistic wellness platform dedicated to promoting true health and helping individuals discover their authentic selves. My work is centered around providing educational resources, personalized nutrition coaching, and sustainable wellness practices.
What Sets Us Apart:
We see our clients as whole beings with a body, mind, and spirit. Our approach is about helping people become better versions of themselves so they can enjoy life more fully and accomplish their goals. It’s not about defining better as good or staying the same as wrong; it’s about being true to oneself and driving one’s own life. We emphasize creating our lives rather than being shaped by external factors and blaming them.
As a personalized nutrition coach using a functional medicine approach, I understand that nutrition is powerful and can greatly improve our physical condition, but it’s not everything. Nutrition can make our bodies feel better, enabling lifestyle changes such as starting to exercise or engaging in spiritual work. Often, my coaching extends beyond nutrition to address issues such as childhood trauma and the nervous system, reflecting the interconnected nature of our health.
Pride and Excitement:
I am most proud of the impact we’ve had on our clients’ lives. Seeing individuals transform their health, embrace their true selves, and build inner strength is incredibly rewarding. I am excited about expanding our reach and continuing to innovate in the field of holistic wellness. I am particularly excited about helping people see their true selves and reach the maximum potential of their health and mind. Watching clients realize their own power and capabilities is truly inspiring.
Message to the World:
I want the world to know that true health goes beyond the absence of disease. It’s about understanding our bodies, minds, and the connection between them. At Good Things For Us, we believe in the power of self-care, self-love, and sustainable practices to create a healthier, more connected world. Our story is one of transformation, resilience, and a deep commitment to promoting genuine well-being for everyone.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d start by going on hikes to explore the scenic trails and enjoy the breathtaking views. Then, we’d visit beaches to see wild seals in their natural habitat, which is always a captivating experience. One day, we’d head to The Dutchess in Ojai to savor their delicious offerings in a charming setting. After our visit to The Dutchess, we’d explore downtown Ojai, visiting local shops, art galleries, and quaint boutiques to soak in the unique atmosphere. Over the weekend, we’d definitely stop by a local market to shop for fresh produce, artisanal products, and unique souvenirs. This blend of outdoor adventures, wildlife encounters, local flavors, and cultural exploration would make for an unforgettable trip.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Throughout my journey with Good Things For Us, the support and guidance of various individuals and resources have been instrumental in shaping my path. I am deeply grateful for the efforts, mentorship, love, and encouragement I have received. Here are a few key influences I would like to recognize:
Dr. Kenshi Miyazawa led me to build my own business in the functional medicine world, marking the start of my journey in 2018. His teachings about real treatment, focusing on root causes rather than just symptoms, have profoundly influenced my approach. His experiences and vision have been crucial in guiding me to where I am today.
Community of Practitioners: The collective wisdom and practical knowledge shared by many practitioners, not only in functional medicine, have been invaluable. I’m so grateful that I was born in an era where I can receive their knowledge live and apply it to my practice.
My Family: The first introduction to functional medicine came from my mom. In 2007, when I was completely burnt out, my mom took me to a functional medicine doctor. I experienced the power of nutrition firsthand and, ever since then, I’ve been in awe of how our bodies are designed nearly perfectly.
My Clients: I am deeply grateful to my clients who trust in the power of nutrition and the transformative potential within themselves. Their commitment to their health and their belief in our work inspire me every day. Their journeys and successes are a testament to the impact of our collective efforts.
Each of these influences has played a significant role in the development and success of Good Things For Us. I am deeply grateful for their contributions and am committed to continuing to honor their support through the work we do.
