We had the good fortune of connecting with Maricela Jimenez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maricela, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
I’ve definitely been through some tough, dark times in my life, times where giving up seemed like an easy option. But I’ve learned that those challenges often bring out the best in me. Every time I’ve hit a low point, I’ve managed to bounce back stronger, with a clearer perspective and a more determined mindset.

I’ve found that the difficult moments are often the ones that build character. They force me to reassess my goals, my approach, and my strength. I believe the key to success is in how we respond to adversity—it’s not about avoiding failure, but about using those setbacks as stepping stones. The tough times have made me more adaptable, and each time I come out on the other side, I’m bigger and better than before. So when I face challenges now, I trust in my ability to overcome them and keep moving forward with even more confidence.

“yeah, gotta keep goin'” !!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has been a journey of growth, resilience, and finding my true passion. I work as a front desk receptionist at a dermatology office in Beverly Hills, but my goal is to move up in the aesthetics industry and eventually become a nurse injector. What sets me apart is my dedication to learning, my love for beauty and skincare, and my ability to connect with people. I truly believe in making others feel confident in their own skin, and that’s what drives me every day.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. I’ve faced setbacks, like losing jobs and struggling with self-doubt, but each challenge has pushed me to come back stronger. I’ve learned that failure isn’t the end—it’s a lesson. The biggest thing that’s helped me move forward is staying focused on my goals, even when things felt uncertain.

One of the proudest moments in my career so far is securing my current job, especially in such a competitive industry. It reminded me that I’m capable of achieving what I set my mind to. I’m also excited about the opportunities ahead, like the benefits I get at my job that will help me invest in my own self-care and growth.

What I want the world to know about me and my story is that I’m always evolving. I’m someone who isn’t afraid to chase what I want, even when the road gets tough. My brand is all about confidence, transformation, and embracing the journey—no matter where you start. I’m just getting started, and there’s so much more to come.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were showing someone around East Hollywood, I’d make sure they got the real experience—the mix of culture, history, and that raw, authentic LA energy. East Hollywood isn’t flashy like Beverly Hills, but it’s got soul. It’s where the grind happens, where the streets tell stories, and where some of the best food, music, and people come from.

Fountain street right by where I live such a cute place to hang out at!!

walk around Normandie & Melrose, Vermont Avenue—just taking in the energy of the streets. The murals, the corner shops, the old apartment buildings—it’s the LA people don’t always see in the movies.

Hit up Bellevue Park or LACC steps, where a lot of us would kick it back in the day. Just a moment to soak in the memories.

Hit up Amoeba Music on Sunset—music history, LA history, all in one place.

East Hollywood isn’t about the glamour—it’s about the people, the culture, the real LA. It’s where the hustle happens, where dreams start. It’s home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to give a huge shoutout to my parents and my homies from East Hollywood. My parents have been my foundation, and their love and sacrifices have shaped me into the person I am today. No matter what, they’ve always been there, and I’m forever grateful.

And to my homies from East Hollywood—you all know who you are. Y’all have been my family, my support system, and the ones who’ve always had my back. Through the ups and downs, and the grind, you guys have been there, pushing me to keep going. Much love to all of you! 🤍
