Meet Marie Monti | Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Marie Monti and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Marie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
“Victory without risk brings triumph without glory”. This quote is one of my Dad’s favorite and one that marked me early in life. Both through my education and my experiences, I understood I would need to get out of my comfort zone, forget everything I thought I knew and be willing to sacrifice if I wanted to achieve my dreams. Every stepping stone in my life and career was marked by a risk I took. I took the risk to disappoint my parents, by following a creative path they didn’t approve of, I took the risk to move to L.A. to pursue my dream, leaving my family, friends and my boyfriend behind, and now I am taking the risk to sing in Spanish, my 3rd language ! Risk is scary, it is challenging, it is lonely, but I love it! It keeps me going and pushes me to be a better version of myself. If it weren’t for the risks that I took, I wouldn’t be where I am today. The road is still long and I am ready for the journey, whatever it may bring.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an artist, an immigrant and a hustler. I am a trilingual singer and songwriter, coming from France and making music for the World. Fighting for a dream is never easy, my journey came with sacrifice, heartbreaks, loneliness and burnouts, but I wouldn’t change anything about it. I came to L.A. with nobody to call and no money to spare, yet I was able to overcome all the obstacles that got in my way thanks to the unshakable faith I had in Music and my passion for it. There is so much more to create and accomplish but today, I am able to live from my art and I am grateful for my team and supporters who are making it possible! My song “Como Tú” is coming out on February 3rd, and I simply can’t wait to share it with everyone !
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
L.A. has a unique aura that makes you feel home no matter where you come from ! However, it’s easy to get lost in the hustle. The one thing I love to do when I need to clear my head and take a step back is to drive on Mulholland Drive at night. It soothes me and makes me realize how far I’ve come. Food wise, I’m vegan so L.A. is a dream city to live in! Some of my favorite restaurants are Sage, Double Zero, Plant Food + Wine, Sugar Tacos and Nomoo.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate this Shoutout to everyone who believes in me and pushes me to be a better person and artist everyday, more particularly to Noam Kaniel, one of my guardian angels that helped me get to where I am today. Noam saw my talent when very few did and gave my voice a chance to be heard. I’m eternally grateful for having such an amazing friend and mentor!
