We had the good fortune of connecting with Marina Kokush and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marina, what is the most important factor behind your success?
What’s at the core of our brand’s success? It’s people – our remarkable team and the power of seamless communication. Our dynamic co-founder, Alison, and I form a strategic partnership where her marketing finesse complements my hands-on approach to creating captivating digital experiences.

But it’s not just us. From skilled designers to dedicated developers, our collective expertise, cultivated through shared projects, ensures that exceptional outcomes are the norm. Communication serves as our lifeblood, nurturing a shared understanding that drives us to deliver projects that stand out.

In essence, our success is a symphony of collaboration and clear communication, crafting a brand that thrives on innovation and resonates with our clients.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our agency is a fusion of strategy and artistry redefining digital experiences. Our name embodies insight-driven design that triggers both cognitive and visual “clicks” of understanding and engagement.

“Declick” draws from French, where it represents the moment of intellectual insight, perfectly encapsulating our approach. Moreover, the word “click” embraces the digital realm—a catalyst for countless reactions.

What truly sets us apart is our unique fusion of strategic thinking and aesthetic prowess. We approach design with a focus on strategy, ensuring that every visual element serves a purpose beyond aesthetics. Our work doesn’t just look beautiful—it resonates with a brand’s identity, aligns with its goals, and is informed by both qualitative and quantitative research. We wholeheartedly embrace human-centered design, crafting experiences that elevate both the user and the business.

This journey has been anything but easy. Challenges have tested our resolve, but every obstacle became an opportunity for growth. In an industry where aesthetics and data often operate independently, we’ve pioneered an approach that marries the two seamlessly. It wasn’t always a straightforward path, but our dedication to pushing boundaries led us to a place where art and analytics unite harmoniously.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
While I’d be tempted to leave it to the professionals, like Laurie en Californie, who crafts exceptional tailored tours, I’ll try to take them through the most stereotypical yet fun journey in LA.

We’ll start with a yoga class in Venice or Santa Monica to set a perfect tone for the day. After the session, we’ll recharge with some juice or a green smoothie because how can you be in LA and not have a green smoothie? Then we’ll go on a beach walk in SM and maybe a dip in the ocean. For brunch, Gratitude Cafe in Venice if they want the real immersion in the LA healthy lifestyle, or Gjusta if we want to go crazy.

Then I’ll suggest exploring the vibrant art scene of Downtown LA with its galleries and stores. For dinner, I’ll think about sushi or crudo because that’s something that LA really boasts about. For drinks after, I’ll suggest a rooftop bar, like Santa Monica’s Elephante, and then be back home before midnight and repeat the next day because, for some reason, after I moved to LA, I can’t sleep past 6 am. Maybe that’s the kids, though 🙂

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My journey has been shaped by the efforts, encouragement, and support of many, and I’m thrilled to recognize the incredible influence of several groups that have propelled us forward.

First and foremost, as a women-owned business, we’ve found immense inspiration in fellow women in business. Two groups, in particular, have been transformative: The Elles Collective, a tight-knit community of French women entrepreneurs in California. Their support has been invaluable, allowing us to leverage our shared heritage to navigate the American market with confidence and solidarity.

Another beacon of empowerment is HeyMama, a vibrant community with shared values that celebrate the multifaceted roles women play. It’s a dynamic platform that shatters the notion that our careers take a back seat once we become mothers. Instead, it highlights how motherhood can enhance our professional journeys, giving us a unique edge.

As an entrepreneur and a mother of two, HeyMama has been a lifeline, guiding me through a new chapter of embracing my evolving identity while building a successful business. It’s a testament to the strength that emerges when women uplift one another.

To The Elles Collective and HeyMama, I extend my heartfelt shoutout. Your unwavering support and dynamic communities have added immeasurable depth to our journey. Your belief in us fuels our determination, and I’m grateful for the empowering networks you’ve cultivated.
