We had the good fortune of connecting with Marjorie Large and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Marjorie, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Inspiration is at the root of my company, my team, and our success. I am truly inspired by business owners and leaders who have the entrepreneurial spirit that drives ideas. When I started my business years ago, I knew I wanted to build an agency that could support this energy and build a team that shared in this vision. WitMark is made up of a group of incredibly talented and dedicated individuals who are passionate about telling stories and inspired by our clients. Leading with inspiration helps us stay creative, engaged, and find continued success.

What should our readers know about your business?
WitMark Marketing & Branding Group is a creative, powerful, strategic ad agency that combines analytical business consulting with fresh, witty marketing strategies. We have grown over the years because of the relationships we have with our clients, most of whom have been with us for many, many years. Early on, we recognized that trust was an essential part of our culture. Clients share their goals, objectives, financials, and struggles as we evaluate their business. This is intimate and often scary, but it can also be very powerful. We are as much a strategic advisor as we are a creative arm of their organization. When successful, we have created a long-lasting relationship which also results in referrals. By forging these relationships, we are able to connect with clients in a really special way and also fuel growth.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We absolutely LOVE living and working in Santa Barbara. It is such a special place and I encourage people to visit. Definitely grab sushi at Sakana – it’s amazing. Grabbing food or wine at the Santa Barbara Public Market is also fantastic, especially if you have a group because there are lots of options (Noodles are delicious at Empty Bowl or mole tacos for Corazon Cocina are a hit!). Exploring downtown is really fun. Currently, downtown State Street is closed to vehicular traffic so you can walk along the promenade and check out stores and coffee shops. Paseo Nuevo is also a beautiful open air shopping center, having completed a big renovation recently. Running along the beach is something I do often. If you want a few good miles, run from Shoreline Park to Butterfly Beach and back – it is a great run along the water.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have had exceptional mentors guiding my success. In my early years earning my MBA at Pepperdine University, with the help of professors and classmates, I developed my initial business plan. In later years, I sat on boards with experienced entrepreneurs and business professionals offering guidance, support, and advice. The most steadfast and constant source of support, however, is my husband who is truly a partner and advisor. As someone who also runs a successful firm, he has insight into how to strategically grow while still finding personal balance.
