Meet Mark Cooper | Musician, Teacher, Actor, Nerd.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mark Cooper and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mark, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
The way I think about risk is doing something that you are either not accustomed to or makes you feel uncomfortable in your usual routine. In my life, taking risks has played an extreme impact whether in my career choices, music and entertainment journeys, even to my personal well being. These risks have always given me the push and drive to be strong, confident, and passionate in any obstacle I face.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Well Personally I am a Musician that has a generous focused in a niche genre called “Nerdcore” which focuses on content that is inspired by fandoms such as anime, comics, videos games, and nostalgia. What I feel sets me apart would be my deep appreciation for the genre and how I can transform not only my childhood but various others to feel the fresh air of nostalgia in music form. The newest thing I’m most excited about is working on this new Nickelodeon themed album called “The Orange Tape” which pays tribute to 45 amazing years of the network. Also at the same time being able to follow my childhood dreams of being casted as a Power Ranger in a fan series called “Beast Hunters”. Personally the path was not an easy one. There were a lot of challenges from trial and error, mental breakdowns from the highs and lows of the process and constantly pushing forward even when you feel you’re not at your best. What got me where I am today were to follow 3 rules; 1.always remain humble, 2. Always be willing to listen and learn 3. Do what you love. With those as my guidelines, I’ve learned a great deal about myself, my well being, and mostly how to be a great peer to the people I care about. life to me begins as a sprint but later turns into a marathon due to the fact in a sprint you have to give it all that you got in that very moment and the marathon is keeping on pace regardless the weather, obstacles, and fatigue you may face in the process. For me, My name is Mark Cooper and what I would like to make sure people take from the story is if someone doubts, laughs, or tries to discourage you for the dreams you have, you’re not alone. Let me be your example to go for it. being 37 and a Power Ranger excites 6 year old me. Go awaken yours.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well When comes to best friends I have more then one but luckily they are into the same things so I can give the best itinerary for them all. When it comes to places to eat, Of course I would recommend Buddy’s for our signature Detroit Style pizza, Johnny Noodle King for an epic ramen experience, Sweetwater tavern for amazing soul food, and grabbing a freshly baked goods from Dutch Girl in the heart of Detroit on Woodward ave. For places, downtown Detroit is an experience from sporting events, historical landmarks, and museums such as the Science Center and the DIA. My personal favorite thing would be to rent bikes and ride along the Detroit river at Hart Plaza. Another fun thing to cut out would be to visit Belle isle which is a place where families have parties, graduations and more. Also driving down Woodward ave alone is a fun experience seeing everything about the city in a few minutes.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my mentor Douglas Medran (“Vegeta”). Thank you for your inspiring words, all or nothing attitude, and constant faith in my journey even if I ever lose it. One of his greatest quotes were “never hope just do, because hope leave chance for failure”. Of course My friends and family in Detroit, LA, New York, and various others scattered across the world. God bless and I love you all.
