Meet Mark Dillon Luna | Wedding and Event Planner, Florist and Nurse

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mark Dillon Luna and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mark Dillon, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
One thing about the wedding industry that outsiders are probably unaware of is the extensive behind-the-scenes coordination and planning that takes place to ensure a successful event. From venue selection, vendor management, and logistical arrangements to design, décor, and timeline creation, there is a significant amount of work involved in bringing a couple’s vision to life. Wedding planners and coordinators often work tirelessly to handle all the intricate details, provide solutions to unexpected challenges, and ensure a seamless and memorable experience for the couple and their guests.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a person of color and a Male in a Female predominant industry it’s very easy to stand out. However what sets me apart from others is my dedication to creating unforgettable experiences for couples. I pride myself on my attention to detail, creativity, and excellent organizational skills. From conceptualizing unique themes to coordinating all aspects of the wedding day, my goal is to ensure that every couple’s vision is brought to life seamlessly.
My journey to becoming a professional wedding planner has been filled with passion and hard work. It hasn’t always been easy. As someone who comes from a Filipino American household going into an industry that isn’t in Healthcare, Law or Education is somewhat frowned upon. After high-school I planned to attend design school but ended up enrolling for Nursing School. In 2020 amidst the pandemic I just couldn’t do it anymore and this is where I started my passion project and opened up my business. Breaking cultural norms for me was very tough but with the support from my family, friends and everyone in the Wedding industry it truly shows that if you have passion for a career just go for it. However, I have embraced challenges as opportunities for growth. Throughout my career, I have learned valuable lessons. One crucial lesson is the importance of effective communication. By actively listening to peoples desires and concerns, I can better understand their vision and their needs. Flexibility and problem-solving skills are also vital in both fields, as unexpected situations can arise. By staying calm under pressure and finding solutions on the spot is a big to key have.
What I want the world to know about me as a wedding planner is my commitment to creating extraordinary and personalized experiences. Whether it’s an intimate gathering or a grand celebration, I believe that every couple deserves a wedding that reflects their unique love story. My brand is built on trust, reliability, and a genuine desire to exceed expectations. I am thrilled and proud to be a part of each couple’s special day and to contribute to their lifelong memories.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
From where I’m from on the central coast it’s a quite coastal beach town which is only a few hours from LA. I’d start off with a drive down to Santa Ynez for some wine tasting then a stop for lunch and shopping in Santa Barbara and Montecito then head over Korea Town and Downtown LA for some fun night life! The next day I’d head over to the flower market to check out the most beautiful flowers and plants they have to offer then head over to Beverly Hills to do some shopping and site seeing in the most gorgeous neighborhoods as well as Brentwood. I would then drive down further into Orange County/ Temecula Area to do even more wine tasting and possibly make a stop at Disneyland on the way back home.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To my parents, grandparents, sister, friends and family, words cannot fully express my gratitude for everything you have done and continue to do for me. Your love, support, and presence have made all the difference, and I am eternally grateful. To my impeccable team who’s been with me since I started this passion project of mine. Thank you for standing by me all these years and executing each and every wedding with me. And . To the talented vendors, creative partners, and dedicated team members who stood by our side, making every event a success. Together, we’ve created magic, turning venues into enchanted spaces and crafting moments that will be cherished for a lifetime.
