We had the good fortune of connecting with Maryann Maiy Moses and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maryann Maiy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
There are countless thoughts in my mind that I often struggle to express because some can’t even be expressed in real life, being a creative has given me the opportunity to turn those thoughts into reality. Each time someone appreciates my work, I’m reminded of the power and potential my ideas hold , something that was only rotting in my mind .
There is a unique and indescribable joy in imagining something, bringing it to life, and then watching others experience what once existed only in my mind.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I launched my film company, ByMaiyzle in September of last year. At the time, I had no defined goals , no grand vision or roadmap. I just wanted to wake up, make films, and move through life doing what I loved. But now the story has changed. The more I immersed myself in the craft, the more I realized that this wasn’t just a passing passion, it was purpose.

The feedback and support I’ve received since i started have been overwhelming in the best way. Watching people connect with my work has not only been humbling, but also deeply encouraging to me. It has ignited a fire within me and pushed me to take this path even more seriously.

I am building ByMaiyzle into something meaningful and far-reaching. Though I’m still in the early stages, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I now have a clear vision , a vision that pushes powerful stories, bold visuals, and global impact. I am moving from my comfort zone and trying out more daring ideas

Being a creative in Nigeria comes with its own set of challenges. The system can feel limiting, and access to opportunities is not always straightforward. But I’ve learnt to work with what I have to push forward. One of the greatest lessons this journey has taught me is that consistency is a superpower, Talent opens doors but consistency is what pushes it forward.It may not always be glamorous, but it’s what turns dreams into reality.

ByMaiyzle is only just beginning and I know that with every story I tell, I’m carving a path that leads beyond borders. The world will come to know the voice I carry not just as a filmmaker, but as a writer with something important to say. I’m not just chasing a dream,I’m building a legacy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I am deeply grateful to everyone who has stood by me in this journey so far

To my family especially my incredible mom and siblings ,thank you for your unwavering love, support, and belief in me. Your presence in my life has been my greatest strength.

To my friends, who constantly show up for me in the loudest, kindest, and most beautiful ways,you are truly the best, and I don’t take any of you for granted.

To my team and creative family, thank you for dreaming with me, building with me, and believing in the vision even when it was just a seed.
