We had the good fortune of connecting with Masa The Artist & Inner Sunshine Records and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MASA the artist, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Need. The need to create & leave a mark, the need of under-represented voices to be heard & of course the need to share art with the world. If you can’t find it, create it I say

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business has been a dream of mine since I was a child, I have always had an affinity for recorded sound, music videos & art creation in general. So owning a record label with its respective recording studio is a dream made a reality & as luck would have it I’ve been blessed to work on many great projects.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My city is wide & wild with many jewel neighborhoods all through it, so I would start with in two places. If the day was a day of leisure then home state on Ventura would kick off the day, if the day called for a studio day then metro balderas on Reseda Blvd for a quesadilla would be a must. Then for lunch descansobin Hollywood would be a fun stop before of after the museums or sushi on Ventura if we were just breaking away from a session. Either way we would finish the night at Mercado or Casa Vega

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I think the very first person that saw me as an artist & guided me towards the arts, even to the point of filling out my applications for magnet schools (a gifted program for various disciplines in the LAISD) would be Ms Ruth Gratehouse a teacher I had in 8th grade.
