Meet Mathew Browne | Actor/Artrist/Human

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mathew Browne and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mathew, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I don’t know if I really believe in a work life balance. I believe if you truly love the work you do then it is your life. I love the idea of being so immersed in what I am doing that it consumes all of my time until it is done. I’m sure that may sound unhealthy to some but It’s what I believe. Yes, some other aspects of your life will suffer from this type of commitment. But nothing great was ever achieved without sacrifice.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an actor. Growing up I had zero intentions of acting or pursuing a career in the film industry. It all happened so organically. I dropped out of college after my very first semester. I was always an A student but for some reason it just didn’t feel right what I was doing. Then I started making music and that was definitely not my strong suit. I ended up working with another local artist in St. Louis and began shooting content for him with a camera I had just purchased. Once I found a passion for that I wanted to take it to the next level so I ended up going to New York and studying at the New York Film Academy. After studying there I returned home for about two years until I decided to move to LA. I wanted to become a director. I shot a few things but could tell I was still missing something. That’s what led me to start studying acting at Playhouse West. I wanted to learn how to communicate with my actors better and understand how they approached their craft. I ended up falling in love with the art and stayed there for almost 5 years. After I was about two years in I started putting myself out there and auditioning for roles. I found myself getting many auditions and I started booking a decent amount of roles. Finally I booked a lead role in the film The Beethoven Method. That was a very challenging and rewarding experience and I think about those days fondly. That was the moment I gained a new level of confidence in what I was doing. Since then I have gone on to act in about 40 different projects. Ranging from student films all the way up to big budget films. I’m currently around 30 credits on IMDB and have films on Amazon Prime, Tubi, & one will be on Hulu soon. I’m thrilled with how far I have came and know this is only the beginning.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not a big tourist person honestly. If my best friend was here I would hope to be very busy that week so they get insight into how my life operates. I would hope to have many self tapes, be on set, go to the gym, be shooting a music video for the artist I currently work with, Billyracxx. That way they could go to all of these things with me and see how I live my life.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitly would like to dedicate my shoutout to my father. He has been there for me since day one and he has taught me a lot of the principles and disciplines I have and use in my life. I was blessed with a great childhood and a great family and I do not take that for granted. The older I get the more I realize very few people even had their fathers around and that makes me appreciate mine that much more.
