We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Orlove and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matt, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Having three children under the age of six, it’s important to me that I’m always present in their lives. Especially for someone who is constantly working, I’ve had to adjust my priorities over the years. Work time is extremely precious, so it’s critical to work smart and be productive during that window. In order to be that best version of myself, I’ve had to improve my sleep, diet, and daily exercise routine. That change alone has had such a positive effect on both my business and family life. The beauty of implementing these healthy practices into my life is that I no longer have to think about the balance…I just live it!

What should our readers know about your business?
ORLOVE is an L.A. based events, media, and lifestyle brand. We produce 250+ events a year, in over 40 markets. We take great pride in the execution of each of these events, so that on any day, guests can come out with their friends and experience & discover great music. We’re proud to have worked with so many amazing artists and brands we love including; Nina Kraviz, FKJ, Roy Ayers, Sango, Raekwon, Holy Ghost!, Questlove, Dim Mak, Soulection, Giorgio’s, Rufus Du Sol, DJ Premier, Pete Tong, Giorgio Moroder, & Breakbot, to name a few.  We are driven by our love of music and strongly believe in our mission to share the work of exceptional artists.

In 2020, due to the postponement and/or cancellation of all of our events because of COVID, we launched an online music video series called Under The Covers.  Each week, we showcase musicians from all over the world covering current and cutting edge music. As a global brand, this project has introduced us to so many talented, yet undiscovered artists from all over. It’s been so rewarding for us to utilize our platform positively, and to put our mission into practice. Check it out: bit.ly/OrloveUTC

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To experience L.A. right, there’s nothing more satisfying than immersing yourself in the city’s amazingly diverse food culture. Some must hit spots include; Tacos at Villa Moreliana in Grand Central Market, over the counter sandwiches at Monsieur Marcel + donuts at Bob’s Coffee & Donuts in Farmer’s Market at The Grove, Omakase at Yamakase, L.A. staples Dan Tana’sNate N Al’s, and Spago, Thai Street Food at Night & Market, Dim Sum at Din Tai Fung, dinner splurges at Providence & Osteria Mozza, and desert at Sweet Lady Jane.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My forever “Shoutout” is to my wife, Lynn. In addition to being a superstar mother, she has always been so supportive of me and the business. I attribute so much of my success and growth over the past decade to her. The pandemic has made this year so challenging for most of us, yet day in and day out, she’s never shined more bright. She has so much patience and love. Our family is seriously so fortunate to have her.
