We had the good fortune of connecting with Matt Wolf and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Matt, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued a creative career because music has always been something that genuinely excites me. It’s one of the few things that makes people feel something immediately. Being able to create that experience and also help others learn how to express themselves through music is really meaningful to me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is centered around creating moments of joy and connection through music. Whether I’m playing, writing, or teaching, I want people to feel something real. What sets me apart is that I focus on making music feel approachable and inspiring, especially for people who are just starting their musical journey.

A big part of what I do is teaching. I work with students of different ages and skill levels, and one of the most rewarding parts is seeing someone go from playing their first notes to confidently performing a song. That process reminds me that music is not just about talent, it is about patience, curiosity, and practice.

Getting to where I am today was not always easy. Like most creative paths, it came with uncertainty and challenges. Those moments taught me to stay consistent and keep improving my craft.

What I want people to know about my story is that music should feel uplifting and human. My goal is simple: to create experiences where people leave feeling happier, more confident, and more inspired through music.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d want them to experience a mix of music, great food, and some classic Los Angeles spots.

We’d probably start the trip exploring downtown, grabbing food at Grand Central Market and checking out some of the local record shops and music spots nearby. Another day we’d head to Griffith Observatory for the view of the city and the Hollywood sign, especially around sunset.

Of course we’d spend a day near the beach, walking around Venice and Santa Monica, watching street performers and just enjoying the energy there. I’d also take them to a few live music spots around the city because the LA music scene is always inspiring.

For food we’d keep it simple but good. Some great taco spots, maybe a classic burger place, and definitely late night food after a long day out.

Honestly, the best part of the trip would just be experiencing the creative energy of the city. There’s always something happening, whether it’s music, art, or just interesting people doing their thing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to give credit to the mentors and teachers who guided me early on in music. They showed me not just how to play, but how music can bring people together and create meaningful moments. Their patience and encouragement had a big impact on me, and it’s something I try to pass on to my own students today.
