We had the good fortune of connecting with Maze Road and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Maze, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a couple of motion designers with different aesthetics, it was a no brainer to join forces to create an animation and post-production company. Working together prior to starting a business, we knew that our new company, Maze Road, would be able to deliver satisfying visuals to other businesses in need.
What should our readers know about your business?
We’re very proud of the versatility of the company, and how we’re able to bring different types of visual creative work to life for different industries such as telecommunication, technology, entertainment, legal professions, and innovation. It definitely has not been easy as starting a company is like climbing a steep mountain. We wish there is one learning curve for creating a business, but there are numerous curves that we’ve encountered, and are still encountering, such as the dynamics of marketing different professional services we offer as well as how to make our processes more efficient. We’ve learned to take a more pragmatic approach with handling difficult situations internally within the company, and externally with our clients. We will say staying organized is one of the biggest factors to maintaining efficiency within a company. As far as what we’d want the world to know about us is that we’re out here! Maze Road is not creating the wheel for our visual services that we offer such as motion design or post-production, but we’re doing it in a way that is an all around entertaining and enjoyable experience for our clients and audience. Our website and social media showcases Maze Road’s pocket-sized robot mascot that goes through challenges that is in a way resembles the challenges we as owners face with growing a company. At the end of the day it’s not how we start but how we finish, and we’re turning our ups and downs into a fun futuristic 3D and 2D visual experience for those to be excited to see.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being in Los Angeles, there are many places to go hang out and have a good time. Food-wise, we would take our best friend out to lunch at our favorite spot on San Fernando Road called Kabob Bowl, and grab a delicious Chicken Wrap or Chicken Bowl with hummus, cucumber yogurt, and Shirazi salad. They are the best over there, and shout out to Hasmik Avietisyan for being the best cook! And then we would venture off to the fun and exciting Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios, Hollywood, to get in on some real Mario Kart! It’s on like Donkey Kong, baby!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Rick Ochoa and Ahren Diers would like to give a shoutout to our families, the Diers family, and the Ochoa family, and our friends for encouraging us to pursue this venture. We’ve had a big support group behind us and they have stuck with us throughout our highs and our lows as we continue to grow Maze Road as an extensive company!
