We had the good fortune of connecting with Mc Bob and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi MC, what do you want your legacy to be?
I want to be known for my versatility and skill. I’ve always mentioned that it was never about the money, but it was always about the recognition of my art. I want listeners from all genres to be able to find some middle ground within my art. As a person, I want my character to be my legacy. Many of my supporters have mentioned to me they love me due to my personality. This makes me feel happy and accomplished, knowing I’m going in the right direction with how I want my art to reflect on me as a person and an artist. I want to be remembered as the person who was always smiling and being himself. The person who didn’t give a fuck about what others thought and embraced others to think the same.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I feel as though my art is different because of the distinct diverse palette within itself. I’ve seen many other artists attempt to pull off what I do, but not many dive into the complexity of different genres. Most of them think by switching up the flow, that it’s a completely different thing. I’m happy I have the gift of being able to tap into so many different audiences and always have one song that somebody would like no matter what music taste they have. I’m very proud of myself and the work I’ve put in. I’ve been writing and creating music since I was 5 years old. I have put in well over 10,000 hours in training. I’m proud at the fact that I managed to reach where I’m at, mostly off my own work ethic and creative marketing ideas. The road was difficult, as I had non believers, haters, financial issues, bullying, and personal struggle. Regardless, I persevered and pushed myself. I learned that it is all on you to make it happen. No one else. A key factor is who you know, not what you know. Not discouraging all the hard work, but having connections and networking, makes it way easier. Overall, I just want people to know, I’m a real artist. Please do not compare me to these new rappers, and please do not categorize me. The last thing I want to do is sound cocky, especially when it’s known how humble I am, but I really believe my work should be respected. I’m going to end this question with one statement: don’t judge me off of one song. My catalog is like a bowl of fruits, you got to taste them all to know which ones you like.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d start off by taking them to Tam’s Burgers. That’s a Lynwood landmark right there, they have to try it. In terms of fun, I’d have every amusement park lined up. I love to go to amusement parks during weekdays, less people, less time wasted. I’d add Bowling in there too. The aquarium is a fun place to visit once in a while, as well as the San Diego Zoo. If there are any car shows or low rider events, that’s a MUST. I’d try to fit in a day where they can see what I do for work and have them tag along. Maybe a photo shoot or a studio session, too. Definitely can’t forget the Wingstop mukbang, that’s non negotiable. There’s so many things to do in So Cal, it’s hard to pinpoint what the move is. For me, food and entertainment, then relaxation. That’s how my hangouts usually go.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shout to my dad in the early stages within my career. He would work hard to get me certain equipment when I was younger and always had faith in me. His support definitely kept me going for sure. In terms of creating music, big shout out to Edgar (@hesyxo) for teaching me how the basics of mixing and mastering. I remember he used to mix my songs for $25 each, until I asked bro to just teach me how to do it myself. In terms of inspirations to my art, I want to shoutout various artists such as Eminem, Juice Wrld, Kanye, Kendrick Lamar, Nate Dogg, Drake, and so many others for being such a big influence with my art. I love to take inspiration and find ways to add a special touch of my own flavor within it, so a huge shoutout to them. Most recently, I have to shoutout my team, we recently just did a successful press run, and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without them, so a huge shoutout to them for believing in me and making my visions come to life.
