We had the good fortune of connecting with Meez Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Meez, why did you pursue a creative career?
Taking the journey to become a creative was a huge risk, But I became fearless the better I became with the quality and story of work I was putting out. It really began as a hobby but I ventured out and became more aware with my ideas and imagination all together turning it into a lifestyle and career path.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work highlights a lot the good the bad the ugly and beauty in all things landscape street editorial or subjects, I try to tell the truth when I capture a time period because that’s what sticks in the future for me. I’m just happy to be here and not have become a stereotype or statistic in America. I’m most proud of staying away from all the distractions and surface level thinking.

I really just stayed consistent and passionate about what I was doing. It wasn’t fueled by money or attention I really just enjoyed the escape I was able to gain shooting whatever I felt that day and exploring many different places along the way. Understand different places outside my hometown was eye opening for me as well to transition into creating more meaningful pieces of images. The journey wasn’t easy for anyone who isn’t in my shoes but I can say I’ve learned a lot about myself along the way man being to understand myself and love pure with every intention I encounter.

Easy – Meez Is Not Dead, if you understand that you’ll be able to live a full life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is an abundance of places all through the Bay Area. From hiking in Mill Valley Muri Woods or Beaches close like Stinson. So many different land scapes like Point Reyes or Big Basin from inner city exploration like the new bay bridge treasure island and the Golden Gate Bridge are always top of the list as well.

Food I like a little boujee sometimes so I’ll do Limon rotisserie or Niku Steakhouse but when i wanna save I’ll got to Hot Sauce and Panko or True burger those are some quick and good options while on the go exploring. So many place to see tho like California street or little Italy in North Beach has amazing food as well.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yeah I have a lot of people to thank for contributing to my life journey, many mentors and people individually that believed in everything I have done so far I don’t wanna leave anyone out but first; My entire family Mom Brothers Sisters Cousins Aunts and Uncles. A lot of people at elite heights such as Kevin Durant, Mega, Black, Fabulous, Ryan Leslie, Ret One, OSI, Daghe, Keoni, So many names of people I was blessed to be able to share stories and their journeys with as well, Even the random people on the street I capture as well.
