Meet Megan Ford-Miller | Multi-discipline artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Ford-Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For me, starting my own business at this point of my life is about creating passive income. I have been making art over a multitude of mediums for many many years. But as I get older I think more about actually making money from what I create.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been creating since I was a child, it’s like I can’t help but to create. I’ve danced, modeled, acted, both theater and television. As an adult I turned more to painting, specifically mixed media and then photography, which led to graphic arts. I have taught myself most of these mediums since a structured learning environment never worked well for my brain. Being a neurodiverse person my learning style is by doing. I also still love theater and you can find me producing or directing a play at least once or twice a year. My current focus is resin and glass artwork.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Recently moving to Pasadena I have been discovering so many things about the city. The restaurants are amazing! My favorite so far is Fish Wives, if you love seafood it is a definite one to try. I still love to go walk at the Hollywood reservoir and around the lake in Silverlake. I love to thrift so I have been checking out a lot of the smaller towns around me, Sierra Madre and Altadena to find glass for my resin work.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband is a big part of of my success at whatever I do. He is my biggest supporter and has always been there to cheer me on. Me being an artist is one of the things he loves about me and he shows it in his support. Most of the art I have created over the years has been more for myself than to share. Even though I wasn’t pursuing art in a way that would greatly financially impact us he has never cared about that, he just wants me to be happy.
