Meet Megan Greenspan | Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Greenspan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks is a huge part of my life as an actor. A lot of the time, roles and auditions that come in deal with storylines and topics that are uncomfortable. I am forced to leave my comfort zone to accurately portray the storyline and character given to me. If I were to always play it safe and not take risks, I would have no career. Art and success is rooted in risk taking and in being uncomfortable. That is where you will find the most growth.
I used to be very afraid to leave my comfort zone and broaden my world. Now that I have, it is definitely still scary but it has opened me up to a whole new world in this career. I have become more confident in taking risks and seeing the benefit has helped immensely.
Taking risks is scary but once you make that jump, you’ll be able to watch yourself fly.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an actor in Los Angeles! I would say the thing that sets me apart from other actors is my look. I am a curvy girl, which has not always been represented in Hollywood. I am grateful that diverse body types are being more widely recognized but we are still not the traditional look seen on most television shows.
I am extremely proud of where I am and where I came from. In my career path coming up, I have had many obstacles. I have been told I am not good enough, I am not talented, I will never make it, and more. It has always been a struggle but I have never let those words keep me down.
I would say the biggest lesson I have learned is to set goals and make them happen. I know it sounds like common sense, but a majority of people will set goals and wait for them to happen. I used to have that mindset but I soon realized how slow of a process that was. If you want something, make it happen. Do what you need to do to achieve your goals. Life will not slow down or wait for you, you need to push yourself forward.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles has so many diverse spots that are always exciting to explore. I can also say that after being here my whole life, there are still spots I have not been able to enjoy!
I always love a good day/sunset at the beach, and my favorite beach has to be El Matador. It is the perfect beach for relaxing and taking pictures.
I’m always a fan of a good sushi meal and Nobu is a great spot for someone who has never been!
For something a little less tourist-y, the Century City Mall is always a good time. There is always something to do and look at there.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so grateful to have a wonderful support system behind me. A career in the entertainment business can be an extremely lonely and isolating one, so I am forever grateful for my community of people.
I definitely want to acknowledge my parents for their continuous support. They are always there to lend an ear when needed as well as provide much needed support. They understand how tough this career is and are always excited for me when an opportunity comes my way, no matter how small.
I also need to recognize my acting coach and mentor, Amy Lyndon. I came to her as a student 2 years ago as a timid and nervous actor. She has pushed me further than I could ever imagine and has helped me grow into the actor and person I am today. Amy has always believed in me even when I did not believe in myself. I knew I was lucky to be able to call her my teacher, but I am even more grateful to call her my mentor and my friend.
Lastly I need to shoutout all of my friends. They are always behind me every step of the way. Whether it be helping for self tape auditions, helping choose Instagram photos, or just hopping on a FaceTime call so I can vent. I know that I can come to them whenever I need with zero judgment about anything. Zoe, Bobby, Corrina and Justin are forever behind me and their support means more than I can even put into words.
