We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Mcpherson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Megan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I really wanted to start a brand that encompassed a fun and beautiful aesthetic at a more attainable price point that other products I was seeing. Cafe Meggo is about quality over quantity and in a world where we’re constantly being pushed to buy more and more, I wanted to offer products that feel like a special purchase but don’t break the bank.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has been in commercial real estate and I’ve had wonderful experiences working in New York City and LA. I try to apply the lessons I’ve learned from various roles to my own business – there are no mistakes if you learn from them. This mindset is extremely important for personal growth and scaling your business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love spending time in the Arts District of LA, Silverlake/ Echo Park, and South Bay! There are tons of breweries and delicious restaurants – some favorites are Bavel, Sushi Gen, Fish Bar and Melody Wine Bar.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my parents, my brother, boyfriend, and wonderful friends who have all supported me along the way. It can be really scary to put yourself and your ideas out there, but I am incredibly fortunate to have people to support me no matter what happens with my business.
