Meet Meghan Pulles | Emo-Positive Singer-Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Meghan Pulles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Meghan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor for me is my authenticity. I always want to show up exactly as I am whether it’s in a song, interview, or performance. My authenticity really shines through in my music, and I think people can resonate with that a lot.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I like to think of my art as a healing mechanism for both my listeners and myself. I have used my music to push through and battle some of the hardest emotions of my life and I am so grateful for this magic power that I have- taking a dark dark experience and turning it into light by putting it through the medium that is creation in music. I have learned a lot in my past years of being an artist but I think the most important thing is to keep going, and to keep writing. It’s so easy for us to write a song, or a couple songs and feel like we are never going to write again. Even I do this to myself, but my music will ALWAYS flow through me until my dying day. I know that now, and I try everyday to be less afraid of that. I want the world to know that they can get through the hard stuff, and that both me and my music will always be there to give them a hug, and make them feel less alone in whatever they are going through.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting, we would definitely hang out in Brooklyn. I would show them around my neighborhood Bay Ridge, we would go walking by the promenade and enjoy the views then we would grab a drink at our favorite neighborhood bar Salty Dog.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I really would like to shout out my mentor and friend Mary Knoblock. She has given me so much love, and support from the beginning. She believed in me before I even believed in myself when I first started releasing music three years ago. I truly believe it wasn’t a coincidence that our paths crossed when I was on her podcast, and I am so grateful for her love, and support and for really seeing me for the artist I am.
